I just installed my engine back in my car fully rebuilt and I have a new clutch and flywheel in the transmisson. Ok now I was trying to start my car last night everything was going fine until I heard a real loud grinding coming from the transmisson. I have fluid in the transmisson and transfer case. What could the sound be????????

Too man y variables need more info. Did it do it with the clutch engaged or disengaged? Do you know where the noise was coming from? Did you replace the throwout bearing? TRy to give as detailed info as you can and I will try to help you narrow the problem down. Travis

sorry about that..

new throw out bearing and the clutch was engaged and the car is in neutral. it's not turning over cause everytime I hear the grinding noise I stop it. I would say the noise is coming from the top of the transmisson right where it connects to the engine
