ok so about 4 months ago my bearings and axle went on my passenger front wheel. I replaced these parts with re-manuf. parts. Now I'm hearing the same grinding noise i heard right before the axle broke. I only hear the noise when its raining though. I don't understand how this can happen after only 4 months. And i only put about 500 miles on the new parts.

Are you sure it's that wheel? If you had to replace one side, the other side might have finally bit the dust too. Do you hear it when you make a right turn or a left turn? Right would be a bad left bearing and vice versa.

Did you bearing have a warrenty with it? Maybe it was faulty (better chance being it was a reman). Chances are slim, but there's still a chance.

The noise in the rain might be moisture getting in. Is the boot still good? I'm not sure how well the bearing itself is sealed. It's an easy check just to be sure. If the boot's bad then a fix there might save the bearing any further wear. Water in with the grease would decrease it's lubricating ability, hence the noise.

I checked both front wheels any there is no play to indicate a shot bearing. The boots are fine there doesnt appear to be any tears. i don't hear anything when turning. I just hear the noise when going straight it start quiet then get louder then get quiet and goes away.

How do i check that? I put the car on jacks and tried to move the wheel in and out and there is no play at all. only thing i can think of is the car ever so slighty pulls to the left and at times jerks to the left on bumpy roads.

First off it doesnt sound like you drive it much? Is there any rust on your rotors from it sitting? This could be the noise you are hearing. Check your backing plate behind the rotor and make sure it isnt tweaked or that it has some rust or dirt jammed into it anywhere. When you replaced the bearing did you torque it to spec? The reason I ask is I am a mechanic and have seen many bearings fail because they were not torqued enough or were too tight. Check these out and let us know. Travis

i torqued everything to spec. there is no rust. I drive the car atleast 150 miles a week. what I've seen in other threads is one person said bad t-case might cause the grinding/vibration sound i'm hearing. my t-case was replaced around at sometime before i had it. another is unbalanced/unalinment, i never got an alinment or my wheels balanced.

I'll do that today. but im not so much worried about the ride, i just want to know whats making that noise ### its loud, embarassing, and i realllly dont feel like replaceing the bearings and/or axle again.
