I have yet another problem that needs to be solved..=(. So after my car got back from the shop just for a checkup and a new alternator there's been a slight problem. Now when I turn left or right in 1st or 2nd..there's this unrecognizable noise. faster I go, faster the noise is. it's like a repeated click-clack noise. So I checkd my PS fluid level, put more fluid in and that still didn't solve the problem. looked at my belt..it isn't loose. Looked at the CV boots and none of them are torn..I jacked it up to see if something was coming into contact with any of the wheels and it's all clear. SO..click-clack noise ONLY when turning in 1st or second, none in the other gears or neutral. I'm really afraid..and I'm going to have to walk to school until I figure out what's wrong because I do not want this car messing up when i'm on the road. please help.

even on my gsx i had the same problem but it turned out to be the inner halfshaft joint, the boot was also not ripped but if you twisted it forward and backwards it would clunk and move inside the cup. so i bought an axle and sure enough it disappeared. so they can go bad even if the boot isn't ripped. also check to make sure that the nuts holding the axle in the hub are tight.

I really hope it's nothing too severe. As the days go on I've been driving it very cautiously and it seems like the noise is starting to fade away. I really want to know what could be the problem, I haven't ruled out the CV joint..hopefully it's not that..:|

If it is, it's no big deal. I just replaced mine today. I got axle at auto zone for 49.95.

took me about 2 hours. no big deal really. Better that, than something really serious

A clicking noise when turning is most likely the cv joint/axle. It's really not that big a deal, just make sure you find out what it is for sure asap.

On my 1g fwd, I had torn boots on both sides for over 6 months(drove it everyday) and never heard any clicking or anything. But of course I replaced them anyway. However, on my buddies Civic SI, he had a bad cv that would click when turning for maybe 2 weeks tops. And it ended up siezing up and snapping 50 miles from his house.

I wouldn't stop investigating just because the noise seems to be going away.

what problems were you having before you replaced your cv joint? i had a camry that had a cv joint problem, some sand/gravel had gotten through the torn boot and it got to the point where the noise just became unbearable and scary so i had to replace it. it didn't have the same symptoms as i do with the eclipse but theres always that chance. as the days go on i will continue to inspect it and hopefully have a diagnosis soon.

Really bad vibration when i got to about 3000 rpms, or less in lower gears. Took me a week to find it because i felt like it wasn't in the steering wheel or front end.

Thought it was a motor mount, which i found 2 busted, but after hours of crawling all over and under the car, i found the boot busted and seen i was missing some roller bearings inside 2 of the cups.

long story short. It was vibrating really bad..

So yea today I checked it again and one of my boots are torn and the bearings are not lubricated at all..it's so dry. So i'm getting it replaced but I didn't find a CV axle for the same price you got yours for. Lucky. mine's about 80 bucks
