Hopefully someone can help me out. I have the Viper system with remote start and the 4 button remote.

Now this has happened a few times, but usually starts working again when I pull the fuse and put it back in. For no reason the remote stops working. It functions properly but does not register to the system. It beeps as if it were out of range. This time nothings working and as soon as I put the FUSE in, the alarms goes off and there is no way to shut it off. I tried the program steps and nothing happens, the alarm keeps sounding.

I dont understand. It started just like the other times (its happened twice). I parked the car. Hit the aux and start (orange) and the same time (its the turbo timer feature, runs for 60sec), got out and hit arm, and it everything like it should. As I was walking out of Office Depot I hit disarm/unlock and it does the out of range beep. Since then (this was yesterday) it will not register the remote.

Please help me out... thanks

I am an authorized directed dealer/installer. Which Viper system are you referring to? I have seen this issue on a lot of 5000 series responder alarms. It is an SST (1-mile) or Responder (800-ft) model? The SST are relatively new and still have signal problems for some reason. Certain markets they work great, others they don't. I know a guy who installed 7900s all day long in Columbus. Here in Morgantown I could not get a single one to respond correctly. Eventually Directed pulled the whole line from the market.

A unit model number and install date would help greatly in this instance.

Wow that's weird.. I'm coming to Morgantown tomorrow. I just graduated in Dec. and making a visit this weekend.

Anyway. Model number on the main unit is 791XV. Im not sure of the install date b/c it came with the car. I do know that its not too old b/c the kid who owned it before me didnt own it long and he had it installed. I bought it Black Friday(November) of 2006.

Chris I do really appreciate your offer, but I wont be bringing my eclipse down. I was hit on the passenger side a few weeks ago and the Claims Rep. of the other driver's insurance company is coming to look at it later today or sometime tomorrow. If you have any idea as to what it can be please let me know. If I cant figure it out, Im sure Ill be back down to Morgantown within the next month or two and I can stop in then. Thanks again!

If you brought it here I would just ZAP the ECU module and reprogram the remote. It might be loaded up on memory.

dude i got the same problem with my viper check your keyless entry module the stock one that came with your car. i checked mine and it blew. and so my viper didnt work it would go off but my keypad would not work. i drive a spyder so mine was behind the backseat so idk where yours is but check it for any burns or anything wrong with it.

I also have a spyder. Where behind the rear seat is it? Under or in the area where the top fits? Did you have to replace it or just rewire it? Thanks.

If I get it checked my a viper dealer around me area, what would they charge? Is there anything I can do myself? Like a reset button of some sort?

another update.. Ive noticed that my factory alarm still works. Since my outer handle is still broken I have to reach and open from the inside. I did this with it locked and the horn started blaring. It took me a minute to figure out how the hell to turn it off too, Ive never had it go off before. So Im guessing its a problem with the viper system itself

Ive installed the viper systesm b4 and ive had them lose programing on the remotes b4.If you have the insatll manual you can reprogram the remote with the valet button. I cant remember how to reprogram it right off my head. But thats what it sounds like to me. Unless the brain has amlfunctioned or the antenna has failed in it. Did you put the alarm on your self or did you have it installed somewere. If you had it installed they should check it for you. most places have liek a year warranty on the install. And DEI has a lifetime warranty on the alarms and a year warranty on the remotes.

It came on the car when I bought it. It has an external antenna mounted on the windsheild behind the rearview. I checked the wiring and it all seems good. Im going to try reprogramming it again, see if it works. As soon as I put the fuse back in the alarm sounds, how do I stop it?

My alarm has been acting a little funny to. I am not sure of the brand but I will check it out soon. My problem is that the person I bought the car shaved the door handle so the remote is my only way to get in the car.
