starter sounds like it works but the motor doesn't turn over.

So the starter is operating but the engine wont crank? Is that correct? What do you mean the cam angle sensor got smashed? Is it connected? If its not connected or not functioning properly then thats why the engine wont turn over.

not true. that's why it won't start.

So you're using different starters that are known to work and they aren't engaging? I'd see if there is some alignment issue. Are you using the same flywheel that was in the car? i think the AWD and FWD flywheels and starters are different.

I may be wrong but I think I read somewhere on here that you cant mix parts that way ie awd flywheel with a fwd tranny. Something about the flywheels being different sizes. I might be wrong but you should check into it. If I may ask why are you using the awd flywheel in a fwd car?

To the poster above: I believe the starters for awd/fwd are the same as i have swapped a starter from my 92 gsx into my 95 gst without an issue. To the OP: if you are using a fwd transmission with an awd flywheel then your starter is just going to spin because the awd flywheel is a bit smaller than the fwd flywheel hence no contact.

ok thanks. The reason is because I don't have a 6 bolt fwd flywheel. I was doing a 7 to 6 bolt swap and I found out that his 92 was a 7 bolt. So I had to mix and match because I had already sent the 6 bolt stuff to the machine shop. Anyway. What are my options to fixing this. Is there an easier way then changing the flywheel?

If I am right I think the only choice you have is to pull the tranny and change the flywheel. Sorry for the bad news. Like I said though I could be wrong about them being different. I am sure someone else will chime in with more info.
