I just finished with rebuilding a motor and I installed it and drove it today for the first time. The car would not start itself. The starter makes noise but will not turn the motor over. I just push started it. But anyway. The motor Idled at 1,000 then it rose to 2000 after I finished driving it around my yard in circles very slowly. Do I need to adjust something? ignition timing? or the throttle position sensor does it need to be adjusted?

Sounds like your timeing is off to me. And btw you can tow a AWD with a flat bed just not dollies/roll back.

My gsx was towed rolling from AK to WA, with no side effects, although it is better to tow on flat bed, rolling for a while or push starting it is not gonna kill it. As far as your idle goes, check for boost leaks, set your timing with a timing gun, check your biss screw seal. If that fails check your isc, should be about 30ohms across 4 of the 6 pins I believe.

The vehicle I am working on is front wheel drive turbo. my friends car. anyway. I am going to use a timing gun and if it doesnt work I will try the screw. but most important. The starter is good the battery is good. The starter makes noise like it will crank. the cam angle sensor was smashed on the plug, idk if that will deal with cranking the car.

Being you can't TOW an AWD - you can't push start an AWD - THINK about it - Fix the damn starter & or Battery - & Set Base Timing & Base idle per the VFAQ or you'll be rebuilding this thing all over again.

FWD and AWD DSMs, and any manual car be towed and push started.

I would start by looking for vacuum leaks. The BISS screw will not solve this problem.

The Cam Angle Sensor sounds like your problem... I'd just wire in a new plug and try that.

How could it possibly be the CAS? He said he can hear the starter spinning. It only has 2 wires, main 12v+ and the + trip wire.

the motor overheats after about 10 to 15 min of driving. Coolant leaks out of the oil filter where I just added new hoses and clamps. before there were 2 clamps on each side of the hose. I just put one. I think it just leaks when the motor gets warm. Also the motor gets really warm really fast. Does anyone know if it get hot fast because of my vacuum leak on the thermostat?

Did you bleed the air out of the cooling system properly? Is the coolant level full? Did you boil your thermostat to see if it's working properly? Coolant leaks from the oil filter, or the oil cooler? There are two o-ring style gaskets, one between the oil cooler and the block, and one on the oil filter between the filter and cooler. I speak from AWD experience, had the block/cooler seal blow on me. Be sure to torque the tube that runs through the cooler down to the block before installing the oil filter. Also, constant tension clamps are better than hose clamps for your oil cooler hook ups. Hope I was of some help...

i dont know for sure where the leak is. maybe it isnt from the hoses. But where are you saying it could be leaking. I just know that the leak its from oil cooler area hoses or somewhere around there. I didn't do a good job of adding coolant and stuff maybe thats why its getting hot fast. But I am going to change my fly wheel so I can start it up in the garage and look at my coolant problem. What oilrings are you talking about. can you explain better? btw Project95 I thought I was the first to pick project 91 gsx.

The coolant might not be circulating because there's an air pocket in there (water pump cavitating). You should definitely bleed the air out. Here's a picture of where my seal blew out. That's the one to be careful of. But I don't think that's your problem, it may be one of those coolant hoses that may have rotted. Anyway, hope this helps, good luck.

From my very unfortunate experiences I have learned that a hot/warm running 4g63 idle high. My engine was running hot and I added coolant. Then the car went to the shop. Even after I had added the coolant the problem got better. Since you just put in a new/rebuilt motor you need to keep an eye on the coolant (but where glasses-that was a joke. don't put your eye on coolant). This might or might not be obvious to you. Also...

You said your coolant is mixing with oil. That is BAD. I think it's BUCK who informed me about this flaw. Anyway, I'm just reminding you of that.

There is a DIRECT relationship between idle and level of coolant. Right coolant=good idle. Too little coolant=engine may idle slightly higher than normal.:talon:

I'm sorry I feel I must add this. The new GTR by Nissan is F#$%ing awesome! I hope I don't get banned.

I did not mess with the screw yet on this rebuilt engine, though I have messed with the biss screw on my OTHER friend's 2g eclipse gst so i know how it works. I know that a vacuum hose is not connected at the theromstat and I need a new thermostat vacuum thing. I will work on the rebuilt motor when I get a fwd 6 bolt flywheel.
