lifters question

i have 92 talon the head is bad on it, im gonna swap heads but i need to put my old lifters on. Do i need to compress the lifters to get the oil out of them?
 
can it cause PK if you dont bleed them? Because i changed the head without bleeding them and i have crazy PK now

As for PK, I'd be suprised if lifters caused it. The knock sensor isn't just listening for loud sounds and assuming they are all knock. If you whack the side of the block with a hammer, it makes a certain, characteristic ringing sound (like a not-so-good bell). The knock sensor is listening for that characteristic sound. You might want to read up on the threads discussing PK if you haven't already. The knock sensor might be dying, or it might be real knock.
