I just rebuilt my motor after I spun a bearing and got it back on the road yesterday. I have about 50 miles on the rebuilt motor and thought it wasfine when 1/4 mile from my house the oil light came on(At full throttle). The oil pressure gauge also dropped at the same time as I pulled into my drive way it was still idling.I shut her down and checked the oil level was maybe 1/2 to 1 quart low..I drained the oil changed the filter..added 4.25 quarts of mobile 1 10/30... noted a slight oil leak that has me concerned.. Tried to start the car and it is not sounding good..It tried to idle but died quickly with a not so pretty noise...What now..
Did I just mess up my motor trying to start it without oil pressure??It was running ok before I drained the oil...What could be going on here?? Help!

More details on noises and symptoms. if it does start i would try to verify whether it is pumping oil or not.

i kinda doubt both oil sensors would fail at the same time unless the wire got caught in the fan or something

Yes I rebuilt it with help from a friend. When I tried to start it..The motor didn't idle but was very rough it also stopped suddenly with a screetch..Same thing on 2ndattempt..Im afraid to try again for fear of damage. I guess 'll go pull the oil pan...

Suggestions? Weird considering everything was fine for 60 miles..Just the last 1/4 mile!! Guess it happened at the ideal time.

Yes the crank was turned 10/20..Oversized bearing were spec measured with plastigauge
Replaced 1 egg shaped rod and all went well..Till no pressure. There is oil on my timing belt but everthing lies up to TDC. I am thinking that the oil pump went or gasket occluding the line..Something ain't right..Saturday I hope to find out...

Ok I found the problem ..Oil pump seized up and the gear on the timing belt broke so it spun freely. VERY FORTUNATE it happen so close to the house and the timing belt was still intact.TIMING was also still ok so no bent valves. So I am replacing the pump and the balance shaft bearing which looked worn...and of course the other gaskets and the gear ..timing belt etc... Does anyone know where I can rent or borrow the appropriate tool to remove and install the bearing???

I'd just do the balance shaft removal.

BSE done yesterday. Car runs great with a minor shake at idle..otherwise it is smooth!!
I think the balance shaft has been on the way out for awhile and I wouldn't doubt that it caused my oil pump failure. I noticed my oil pressure gauge starts off really low at 1st but pressure builds to a good level with rpms...is that normal with the removal
