Could someone tell where I would find the OBD II port in my 2g eclipse GST? My eclipse all of a sudden started running horiblly, missing and sputtering, barely drivable. The first mechanic charged me $40 to hook it up to a scanner and told me my fuel pressure regulator sensor was bad, The second mechanic charged me $70 for diagnostics and told me my o2 sensors were bad not my FPR sensor. So I'm done paying for "professional engine diagnostics". Im headed out today to buy a OBD II scanner and code reader. Any help or insight is greatly appreciated

Well I think you learned your lesson as far as taking it to a mechanic first. Autozone and other places like that have code readers that you can use for free. The place you hook up too is under the steering column, between the pedals and the steering wheel. I hope that makes sence. There is a big ass harness that is open, you should see it. Just put your head down there and look up. Good luck

what he said... yeah, its to the rightmost part of the drivers side of the center console underneath the dash. clearly visible if you just look underneath there. they usually give pretty generic codes with those readers. just go to autozone they do it for free. how many miles are on the car? i think autozone usually says it's the 02 sensor, probably because they keep those in stock and you'll buy one. :)

The car has 88K on it. Is it possible that one or both of the O2 sensors would just crap out like that all of a sudden? I mean one day the car was fine the next day its not even drivable. I think the plugs, fuel pressure reg sensor and the o2 sensors are all starting to age and the combination of the three is the prob. Thanks for the info!

right after i put my cat-back on (about 30k) my upper o2 went out, was out for about 6 weeks before i could get to it (had cel on). no driving issues other than a yellow light on in the dash (bugged the !$%# out of me!). replaced both figureing if one is out, the other is not far behind.

For the OBD2 plug. Sit in the drivers seat. The plug is by your right knee just on the other side of the plastic trim.

im having the same problem locating the obd ii .... i saw a rectangular frame near the center console.... is the connector supposed to be there or is it under the steering column
like they said? does anybody have any pics for it?

I was wondering if someone could snap a quick picture of the location of the OBD port by the steering column in a 2g eclipse. I've searched and read that it's supposed to be right around there, but I've been looking for like 15 mins and feel like a complete jackass. I have taken that part of the dash off before to get access to some of the wiring when I hooked up my gagues and boost controller, so I'm not a complete newbie, I just can't seem to find where in the hell it is hiding.

I have no picture, and can't take one since it's like 1am (little dark), but when you're sitting in the driver seat, it will be up under the dash a bit, right about where you're right knee is. Hell just kneel on the ground outside the car and stick your head under, you'll see it.

Damn, this is really going to make me sound like a newbie, but I am lost!
Trying to watch the data streams, and set my BISS on my 95 GSX. No problem finding the OBDII port, but I can not find my 12 pin Diagnostic port. I have seen these located both by the fuse block and also just behind the OBDII port.
Went to 2 dealerships now, and no luck there either. 1 says splice one in or replace the harness. 2nd asked me if I was sure the second connector was on my model. My Scantool and Mentor both require I be plugged into the OBDII port and the other.
I have literally removed the dash assembly and went through the entire harness with no luck. I'm in no way new to working on cars, and am praised for my abilities with Mitsu electronics. This is making me look like an idiot. I can rebuild the engine, fuel system, transmission, and COP ignition, but can't find a simple damn plug. I have uploaded a .pdf that shows what I am searching for. I can't find the one on the right.
Any ideas or does anyone have a print out or pin count for slicing in a new one. i have many cars I can get this plug from. I don't just want the 3 wires for a data logger, but all the pins that should be there. Car has every option with the exclusion of ABS.
Thanks all. :sosad: :sosad:

as far as i can tell, my haynes and chilton manual for my 95 talon says 1 port, OBDII and thats where my Logger is pluged in, the 2nd one is throwing me off too...

Er, I could be mistaken but the one on the right looks a WHOLE lot like a 1G OBDI diagnostic port. You sure that page isn't just showing how to pull the DTCs off both a 1G and a 2G? All it says at the top is that it was printed in '95, not that both plugs are *on* a '95.

Just to clarify so people don't think I am nuts, the second port is on every Mitsu/Chrysler car I look in. We have close to 900 cars at our facility and I know I have looked in at least 30 others and found it.
The OBD-II port is used for pulling codes and to see the data streams. The second port, which looks like a ALDL or OBDI style, and when you put what Snap-On calls the Mitsu-5 or 7 key in it, it then causes the ECM to go into test modes. I can't even set the BISS with out being able to do this.
I know it is asking allot, but can some body please just take the pin count (should only be a couple of wires), and even with a DVOM check continuity from the plug to the ecm pin so I can find out where they go. I have the plug out of a 97,98, and a 99 Eclipse, only problem is they are for a non-turbo car so the pins at the computer are going to be different for sure. Will send $$$ thru PayPal for the help if I have to.

Here is a pic of the plug out of the 97 for reference.

I have re-wired half of the inside of my car and I have never seen that port in my 95 GSX. Seeing as the 95's are a prototype year I am sure that there are differences from it to other years. I have seen alot of different colored wires and oddball connectors used in my car that are not in my friends 98 GSX.

All I have is the '95 Chrysler Talon shop manual, Electrical. Sorry. Look harder is all I can say. Is it behind the console side panel?

Defiant, thank you for coming through AGAIN. At least now they know I'm not crazy and it should be there. After revisiting the dealer (I have spent so much $$$ with them the last few months, they are actually being helpful now) they did find some revised harnesses, but no way I'm spending that kind of money, when I know I can splice this direct to the ECM, just not sure of the pins yet. And I can also say the same as others in this post, there are allot of dead end connectors under this dash. It is nuts.

If anyone is willing to check the pins on any year turbo model, I still offer to pay for your time.(and yes the connector I took a pick of is from a 2G)

Thank you all

According to my 2g electrical service manuals the B-37 12pin data connector is only on non-turbo eclipses, while B-38 16pin data connector is on both models. Scan of relevant page is below. I checked other pages but there is no more info about any more data connectors.
The 3rd connector above those 2 is a B-90 - a diode for convertible top and its listed on another page.
At the bottom of one of the pages i put below u can see the B-37 connector layout, looks just like the one you are looking for so i think thats the one.
Also on those pages u can see that it is connected to EATX-ECM (there are also 4 other connections from it for which i didnt include an image and those are also to EATX-ECM).
The last image at the bottom shows that EATX-ECM was only fitted on non-turbo models.

So it looks like this connector is not present on turbo models.

Hope this helps and sorry for poor image quality, but its all i got.

I wonder if those plugs are only in the N/T Models. My car is a 95 and I do have that plug. It's located right next to my ODBII port.

check in engine compartment beside or behind battery I know on somw chryslers late model the obd1 port was by the battery just a suggestion let me know if this was any help :laser:

On my '99 GST and in the '99 Mitsu Eclipse manual, that is plug B37 which is white and located right behind the OBDII plug (B38) mounted on the same metal holder. Although it is supposed to be a 12 pin connector (pins 21-32), it actually only has 1 pin installed in it (but has slots for 12). This is pin 26 (in the corner) which is connected to a red wire which goes to ECU pin 79. This is for turbo models. The NT shows 3 wires going to it.
