[RESOLVED] cyclone ignition coil HELP!

I have a bad coil on my JDM cyclone. I removed the bracket and found that the 2 coils are mounted to a bracket along with the tach interface. It all plugs in as one unit.

I brought the part to the mitsu dealer and the part numbers don't bring up anything. The numbers are: MD125839 and H4T00173.

It looks similar to the one off of a 92 vr4 galant, but it is not the same. The bracket for the VR4 is meant to mount to the Intake Manifold. Mine mounts to the head directly under the Intake Manifold.

Does anyone know where I can get a new coil set?

Please help, I bought my DSM over a month ago and I still haven't driven it!

Thats the same setup as my cyclone motor, you might want to try getting the 92 vr-4 one and just fab a mount for it. Try your local auto parts stores too, you could probably get it cheaper.

I got it figured out. Thanks for the advice, I did get a coil set for a 92 galant. But, be carefull, there are two different coil sets posible. One has a triangle plug and the other has a square plug. My cyclone takes the square plug, so make sure you get a look at your coil and the one you want to buy before paying.

The bracket it comes with will actually work better than stock. The mount for the stock one put it just out of reach for the #4 spark plug wire. The replacement one I got is made of a flexible steel that will allow me to place the coils a little closer to the valve cover.

The square plug I would guess has 4 pins and is the 1990 style coil pack with the tach sender where the triangle plug is the 3 pin setup that 91+ DSMs use since the tach sender is part of the power transistor.

You can remove the coil packs from the bracket and replace them with any 90 coil packs.
