Belle River,
I bought a block off a local guy. He had it board .20 over...etc. Itwas not line honed though. I had to have the crank turned .10 under due to some scoring. Do I now need to have the block line honed? I will be using stock main bolts. The crank is the one that came out of this motor. Any help.

Take it to the machine shop you are using and have them lay a straght edge down the crank jernals. The blocks are DAMM stout so unless it has had a major overheat sometime in it's life it should check A OK:thumb:

It did check out okay by the machine shop. That is way it was not touched. I just heard some where that if you machine the crank, you have to line hone the block? I have no ides if this is true or not.

The crank & block are straght bolt it togther and run it! Make sure you check all the clearances as it goes togther.:thumb:

I will be taking my time with it. This is my first engine build. I'll be checking back for second opinions quite offten.

Before you go to far get a Haynes/Chilton but better yet the Factory Service Manual (if you don't all ready have one. The FSM is worth it's weight in GOLD.:thumb:

I would just do what you think is right. I know if I took the wrong advice, I'd be livid. Worth the extra money to me to get it line honed, you know for damn sure everything is right. Hate to spin a bearing and say damn, wish I woulda had it line honed. Better to be safe then sorry if you got the money.
