My engine has some really bad blow by. Its burning alot of oil and smoking alot. When it was running, i took of the valve cover breather hose and the oil cap and there was a mist coming out, probly oil. Another thing i noticed was that the oil gets real black and dirty looking really fast, like in a day or two of driving. I actually cant even drive it right now because it smokes so much. Any ideas ??

Piston rings could be shot or perhaps worse, a hole in one of your pistons. Better do a compression check ASAP.

I just changed the pcv valve not long ago, so im guessing its the piston rings. This is the secong time the rings went in about 1000 miles. Im wondering if maybe because my car isnt tuned the the rings are goin so fast ? I have a fp3065 turbo if that matters...

any ideas ? If i tune it will the rings last longer ?

Did you start flooring it right when you got the new engine in. You said you fried the rings twice, where did you get the rebuilt from or did it?

I'll ask it as well, how did you break in your motor? And what oil do you run every day? The mist coming out most likely isn't oil. Without knowing more I couldn't tell you exactly what it is, but it might be either fuel or, I know it sounds weird, water. And you're sure it's blow by? Easy way to check this is to take your dip stick out and see how fast the oil runs off of it. If it runs of about like water or somewhere around that consistency then yes, you've got blow by. If it's not running off like that then you've just got another problem all together.

do a compression and leak down test. also how did you break it in? when you break in a motor you are not supposed to hit boost for 2000 miles for the rings to set correctly. if you ride it hard after a rebuild you will glazed the cylinder walls and fry the rings.

give us more info and we will be able to help more

Youve obviously never heard of the Motoman theory. I believe most people here break in the engines with at least 10 psi and some hard break in time.

Theres breaking it in at 5-10psi with 15 min warmup and then theres breaking it in at full boost with no tune and no warm up. Theres a difference between motoman and retarded.

Very true. I would hope no one would start a new engine and give it hell. I assume no one here has enough money to throw around.

ok, the first couple hundred miles I took it easy. After that I would floor it once in a while, but not alot. How should I break it in so it doesnt happen again ?

You should break your motor in the way your experienced engine builder tells you to. Take anything you read off the internet (Motoman) with a grain of salt.
