ok I hope this post won't get me in trouble but what mods would I need to run a 50 trim to its full potencail on my stock motor on my 2g. Instead of dsm link I think I'm gonna go with a key driver its a little cheaper...sorry about lack of search I'm on my pda and don't have that option....thanks

Fuel, lots of it. A better way than chipping it to control it (DSMlink)
Open up the intake and exhaust.
Possibly cam it if you have the money.
Cool the intake charge via FMIC or Meth Injection.

If you cant afford a DSMlink + EPROM, I dont think theres any way you can afford a 50 trim turbo with the supporting mods.

650's, 255lph pump, FMIC, metal HG, ARP head studs, SAFC....in a nutshell.

ok let me rephrase that I don't want to do head studs I'm going to boost this motor till it blows but I want it to last the summer then over next winter I'm going to rebuild whole motor from ground up. so what do I have to do to make the motor last the summer while getting some nice numbers. I have complete 3 inch exhaust with header and ported o2 and big front mount.

will I be ok how much boost with stock fuel system

o no I know that but when the turbo is on I want to start it it hasn't been stated ina while and when I drive it I want to make sure everything works before I drop a 1000 on fuel supplys

You really need to read a lot more before embarking on a 50 trim o a stock 7 bolt. I say save that money for a new shortblock.

You can replace the head studs without removing more than the valve cover, so why not do it and get a bit more time out of the motor? Of course if you're just dying to blow the motor don't but it's a very quick install.

as long as you dont build more than a few psi at part throttle it will be fine...no WOT pulls though, youll do some damage.

ok well like I said I can't search ### I'm at work but what I think I'm gonna do is just fuel it and take it easy what yas think

that really don't tell me much...all I need to know is ...is it a good idea to throw on a 50 trim on a motor with 140k I just want to put it on and only boost enough so it will last until I build a motor and I want to know what to run 2psi 12psi or 22psi I aint looking for numbers just yet I want to put it together and drive the damn thing its been months.

It doesn't matter if he has a stock 7 bolt shortblock or fully built race short block, without the proper fuel mods and tunning capabilities, he's lookin for trouble. However, with the proper fuel system and tunning, a stock 7 bolt short block can support a 50 trim. I think you need to do some searching.

Hold up. You can't run a 50-trim to it's full potential on a stock fuel system. You can't even run half potential.

Use a T25 or a 14B then.

If you need to ask this question, then it's probably a bad idea. It's not going to last a week if you don't know what you're doing.

well some people say yes to a 50 trim on stock motor and some say no I don't know what to believe ...LOL

hold up I am not running it on stock fuel system forget I even said anything like that I'm going to have the car towed instead on driving it without the upgraded fuel system

It looks like you need to be patient and wait until you leave work, so you can get on a computer and SEARCH. These are basic questions that you're asking, and they've been covered here many times.

Also, please use proper grammar, capitalization, and punctuation when posting in the tech forums.

Yes, if properly tuned, you can run a 50-trim on a stock 7-bolt. I did it for years.

Yes...I have a hour drive home so I will be on my computer until then talk to you all later...thanks for all the help

Ok...Im back..Now would you suggest me buy a full exhaust including header or should I buy a fresh rebuilt bb 50 trim instead?

Actually the tech article shows you everything that you need. At least in the direction of what mods to buy. It's not a question about whether or not a 140k motor will be OK with a 50 trim, it's a question about whether or not your 140k engine is going to withstand the power of a 50 trim. Boost levels, tune, fuel, engine condition are all variables to the question you are asking. As Paul said, take a step back and do a lot of research before you commit to buying a larger turbo. Follow the tech guide in terms of basic mods you need to support a 50 trim and most importantly ensure that your engine is healthy enough to run higher boost. There are 200k 7 bolts in the 11's and there are brand new 6 bolts that can't run 15's for shit; It all depends on how your particular set up is.

Why run a larger turbo on an other wise stock exhaust? Forgive my hastiness today, I'm in a bad mood, but that doesn't substitute the fact that you definitely need to do your supporting mods before you do a turbo upgrade. With a stock turbo, you can make more power with supporting mods (and be more efficient) versus slapping a big turbo on a stock car (you'll lose HP/efficiency).

I know all of that..But I don't want to buy a larger turbo and have it sit until the rebuild in a year when I could spend the money for something I could benefit from now..I know I need the exhaust fuel blah blah but like I said I want to drive the car not see it sit.
