I just recieved a pressure plate from a friend at a local automotive shop that he said would just need a slight resaurface and was told it was a heavy duty pressure plate. The part number on the pressure plate is 0021457. The plate also says made in usa and it looks like it has a manufacture date of 2004. Is there anyone that might be able to tell me if it will work on a 92 tsi 6 bolt and who made this pressure plate? I have a 12.5lbs ACT flywheel that it will go up against and when I put the two together the dowel pins line up and so do all 6 bolt holes. If it makes a difference or helps it is dark grayish silver in color. It came out of a non turbo 3000gt.

Thanks in advance

The non-turbo 3000GT clutch is the same as the turbo AWD clutch. Since you have a FWD, it will not work.

I know that the flywheel diameters were different between fwd and awd models but since the pressure plate I have matched my flywheel with dowel pins and bolt holes why won't it work if I use a fwd clutch disc? Any word on wether or not the pressure plate is heavy duty or not, or what brand it is?

Your clutch disk will work fine, but if you install that AWD flywheel/pressure plate, your starter will not work so well. The FWD trannys space the starter further from the crank centerline and it will not engage using the smaller AWD flywheel.

The dark gray color makes me think it is a Fidanza plate, except the part number does not match. However, since it does not have the Mitsubishi part number and says Made in the USA, it's pretty safe to say it is a heavier-duty aftermarket unit.

Is it possible to post a picture of said pressure plate?

Sometime in the next few days I can get a picture of the flywheel on here but the flywheel I have is a fwd flywheel that manages to mate up to this pressure plate.

I know this is old and outdated but to put it to rest as solved makes me happy and should prove valuable for others. A recent napa clutch catalog shows that a 3000gt non turbo clutch kit is the same as a FWD dsm clutch kit. So the Pressure plate I picked up from a 3000gt non turbo will bolt up to my act 12.5lb flyhweel for the FWD. This will not work on the AWD! The clutch disc can be used from either 3k or dsm as the disc sizes are the same.

Hmmm, I'll have to look at it again I thought they mentioned different sizes unless I was confused with the flywheel size. Main concern was figuring out if a 3000gt non vr4 clutch was the same as a fwd dsm.
