One quick question

for some reason when my car hits about 35 mph it seems like it slips into neutral so now i have to drive with the overdrive on

i think it might be the end clutch but im not to sure
a lot of people are saying its either the tranny or the computer

can you guys help me out?!

Do you mean if you drive with OD off? Chances are high it's your end clutch. But of course, replace filter, flush fluids and check TCU codes just in case.

If it's your end clutch, IPT carries an end clutch kit.

When the end clutch goes, your car still thinks overdrive is still an option, so it tries to shift into it like normal. Since there is no working 4th gear, it doesn't engage, thus it revving like in neutral. Turning OD off will of course fix that, as the car will no longer attempt to try.

It's a reputable problem, one you'd find many occurrences (and solutions) of by searching...

alright thanks a lot..
finally someone gives me good advice :D

I would also recoment to check the level of the fluid, and it has to be done with the transmission being warmed up. Add as if neccesary Mobil 1 ATF or mopar +4.
Your end clutch will go and the car wont go into any gear, so be carefull as if that is the case you might get stuck and need towing. As if the worse case scenario occurs IPT sells good rebuild kit that you should get.

My car never goes into overdrive unless I click on overdrive, maybe it is a 2g thing.

They say, that if you flush a auto transmision with a machine your transmission will die soon, and I experianced that first hand on an Escape . Therefore if you have no record of the fluid being changed dont change it with the flashing machine! Best is to change the filter and fluid on these cars by pulling the pan and you will get two quarts this way only.
If you want to get more out what you can do is to pull one of the return hose of trans fluid
before taking the pan off, and start the car and put it in D, I did it totaling four quartz.

I you will change it , buy the cheaper mopar fluid and flush it adding the neccesary amount back in along with a new filter from an auto part store.

alright thanks.. never thought of that
and you think this would help me out right
and if this doesnt work what do you think it could be?!

IT would be the transmission, When it happened in the escape , the trans clutch would slip into neutral for when going higher speed, and than the next day it would only work in reverse, crazy. Check howstuffworks.com and type in the automatic transmission.
Maybe it is something else or solenoids, read^ . Trans fluid change wont hurt.
Rebuild for a v6 escpe trans and installaition was 2k and it might be better than a junk trans change, depending on how long you will want to run the car and your budget in the worst case scenario.
Let us know what you find out.

Just as the dynatos explained, he's probobly right about the clutch or the torque converter, check to see if your car engages gears by moving the lever while parked, you should feel it. If your clutch start doing that and is at fault it, changind the fluid will most likely not help it from failing.
You might not want to spend the money on trans fluid in that case.
