Ok first off, I own a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gs-t spyder

I was doing some peel outs tonight, behind our local shopping center, etc. On the way home my check engine light came on. Their are no weird noises, knocking, no smoke, overheating, etc. When i shift, nothing worth mentioning, same as usual

Any ideas?

There are many possibilities to that light coming on, whether or not it is related to you peeling out depends on the code it pulls. Take it to Advance Auto Parts or Autozone to get a free reading, then go from there.

awesome, theres a autozone and advanced autoparts 5 mins away, right across from each other :)

thanks alot guys

Btw, which place would u prefer or recommend ?

Yes. Don't street race, and read the codes the ECU has stored.

I dont street race, thats why i went behind the mall, where the trucks load, and no one is ever around

Yes, I went to advanced auto parts like 2 hours ago

Its a 02 sensor he said. Fuel trim malfunction, bank 1

Disconnecting the battery will only work if there isnt a problem, otherwise it will come back on soon after reconnecting and starting the car. It is best to just find out why the CEL is on anyways rather then ignore it.

thats true, your right well anyway.

Im afraid to buy this sensor and waste 109 bucks.. my reason is because my dad has a toyota highlander, 2002 i think, his check engine light came on, and they said it was an 02 sensor for the intake i think.Anyway, the sensor did make the check engine light go off, but it didnt solve the real problem. He failed emissions the next day. Then, he found out, his catalic converter was bad, 1700 for a new one.
