I tried searching and found nothing sooo....

I am looking into getting a GVR4, and i was hit with the realization that it has the 4 wheel steering. Well that got me thinking, by adding coilovers and other suspension mods i will be obviously changing the cars steering geometry, and by doing such, will i be effecting the 4 wheels steering setup? Furthermore, what can i do to prevent this if i am effecting it?

And if it wont be effecting the system, does anyone have any advice on what coilover setups would be good? I will be using the car a little at the drag strip, but thats not my primary focus. I am a huge fan of auto-x and will be doing that as often as possible, hopefully even a couple of track days while im at it. Now, im sure that the Galant probably isnt a lot of peoples first choice for a car to make handle well, but i am just in love with the car. i think its one of the best cars of the 90's.

lastly, i cant seem to find GVR4 specific setups for coilovers, do i just use 1g eclipse setups?

Thanks in advance, and excuse my DSM noob'ness if it shows. :thumb:

Hey I'm new here also, but I think i can answer your question. The rear diff is weaker in the VR4 because of the 4w steer. Most people replace the rear end & diff with a four bolt from the early GSX. The reason is the vr4 diff will only handle 350hp at max and also the cars are 15 years old so finding correctly working 4W steering is hard and fixing is costly.
You mentioned drag and other motorsports So this makes me think reliability will be needed.

The coilovers are few and far between. Tein makes some $$
I would think the shock spring combo is best. The vr4 weighs more than the rest so companys make vr4 specific springs

so by swapping to the 4bolt ill eliminate the 4ws and therefore not have to worry about ruining the suspension/steering geometry by adding coilovers? wouldnt there be other parts in the rear suspension that i would have to change in order to completely eliminate the 4ws?

and i looked for Tein coilovers specific to the GVR4, and i found nothing. which is what led me to believe using the 1g coils would be my only option.

You have to remove the lies and pump along with a few hard parts. Also the teins are RA
I beleive that a comp called dms makes coilover but sre super $$$$$.
