Well I just decided that I am going to wait to buy a Talon. Hopefully not a long wait. There were a few that looked interesting, but I prayed for a sign and I got the one i prayer for, so I am waiting a while before buying one. I am almost positive that I want a 1g AWD Talon Tsi. I like the body, the motor, and the price.

I have been looking in the lower 1k price range. I wouldn't mind spending 2k, but that'd have to be for something really special. Part of me has been thinking about taking this guy I met up on a rebuild short block, and then getting a tranny and rebuilding it. I figure maybe I could build an engine and tranny before buying the car. That way i knew that once I got it my drivetrain would be fairly fresh.

What are some things I should be looking/looking out for when buying a 1g Talon? What mods should I be happier to see or cautious about? What problems should I try to stay away from? What problems aren't that big to deal with? I've got a shop to work o this in, so I wouldn't mind rebuilding an engine and tranny. What price ranges should I bee looking at? I guess I am still trying to get a feel for DSMs. I've only been researching them for the last week or so. Kinda fell in love at first site.

Well, I am still looking for a "good deal." I am still trying to decide what kind of a project I am looking for. Again, I could use any tips or advice for buying a 1g DSM. If there are any things to be watching for.

if i was you and wanted a fairly decent car i would have to say 4get ## 1000 price range. sit back do as much reading as you possibly can here at dsmtuners.com and vfaq.com. after you have read so much stuff you start talkin about dsms in ## sleep then start shoppin and i would say if u want a decent car you should ###### up your budget to 2000-3000 range good luck :thumb:

I think the engine/tranny idea would be smart if you have the money and time to do it.

If you go that^^ route I would say keep your eye out for a clean shell or someting with problems that you can get for dirt cheap.

Or like suggested above you could bump your price up to about 2,5-3k and hold out for a super clean 1g with no problems. You might even be lucky and find one completely stock, "the only way I would recommend buying your FIRST dsm."

There was an auto 1g with like 70k all stock and the guy was asking 3,000 for it. Find something like that and you wont be dissapointed:thumb:

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of doing myown engine and tranny before I get it. Nothing special, but something that is fresh.

Something I've bee thinking about is that people never get their money back when they sell upgrades. I might try to keep my eyes open for one that already has coil overs and/or a good exhaust. Or fuel upgrades. Some simple things that I'd like to have. I'd like to do some autocross, just for fun, and adjustable shocks would be awesome.
