i have a 90 laser 2.0 turbo 5spd what kind of blow of valve should i use its stock turbo if that matters.i have see so many diff blow off valves and dont know if i should get a specific one or not.can someone help me

There is a variety of BOV's (hence your confusion)...LOL

We were all there at a point in time... It all depends on what sound you like the most.

Greddy Type S - Whistle
Greddy Type S - Flutter
HKS SSqV - kind of like an echo..

You can just Youtube them all..=] Enjoy.

Yes, recirculate rather than being rice and venting to the atmosphere.

Know that BOV's will make different sounds depending on how hard you let off the turbo and at what speed you let off. For instance, some will go "Pssch" when letting off from a high speed suddenly, but that same BOV will whistle if you let off slowly from a lower speed.

What's the matter with your stock BOV? Is it too quiet?ROFL

Here's the answer to your problems- RAISE THE BOOST!

I'm running 1G BOV's on both of my cars and just about every car that comes through my shop has one on it, too. Although, my absolute favorite high boost blowoff valve sound is a Tial. Nothing is louder at 25+psi.

LOL yes its quiet

explain to me why its important to recirculate? i was told you can only have the bov open to the atmosphere if you have a maf translator is that true?

Yes, as long as the mas if after the bov.

And its important for the fuel curves of your car. When your venting your loosing all the air the ecu already thinks it has. This will cause a rich AF mixture, possible stalling and various other things. Its not good for your car. End of story! :) :thumb:

No offense, but having a loud BOV isn't going to make your car faster. This has been discussed many, many times before.

No matter what BOV you buy, if it's recirculated, it's going to be quiet. You need to get a hard intake pipe, a K&N air filter, and hack your aircan if you're deadset on hearing some sound when you shift.

But seriously, once you've done the above mods it's still not going to make a huge "whoosh" until you start upping the boost a bit. The higher air pressure in the piping will release quicker, and therefore make a louder BOV sound.

The Dodge Garage Mod (link shown above) is a great way to up the performance of the stock BOV for high boost, but it's not going to benefit you at stock boost. Same goes for crushing....it makes the valve hold stronger, but will not make it louder or release quicker.

if you do the stock 1g bov mod it will hold up to 30 psi and give you the swoosh sound.. although it is better to recirculate it unless you have a set up such as the gm maf and maft.. atmos venting will make your car run a little richer after the bov vents and also could make it stumble a bit between shifts

no LOL i wasnt planning on making it faster with this i jus want it to be louder and i like the sound

But, see, by making your car faster your BOV will also become louder. It's a moot point.

You mean by running more boost, the louder it'll be ;)

Do you currently have your bov recirculated back into the intake? If so, you can cut the dump tube (the part that connects the bov and intake) as it most likely extends down pretty far in the intake pipe. Just cut it so it doesn't restrict air that's coming in through the filter. This will also make it a bit louder.

Not on a '90 Laser. The dump tube connects far too close to the turbo inlet. It's not like a 2G where the dump tube is right by the MAS and has a tube in the intake to force the air even further downward.

That was my intent in post #7. In the above post I was stating that by running more boost, which, in effect, makes your car faster, you will also be rewarded with a louder blowoff between shifts.
