bad spark

Ok, so im going to replace one of the ignition coils because cylinder 3 is getting really weak spark. But im not sure if that will fix my problems. The car is missing really bad, even at idle and the engine is rocking back and forth. Could thats be causing all of that ?

I had a similar problem with my car. It was misfiring really bad. I just swapped out the plugs and wires and it runs very good now.

Yeah it seems that you are not getting a good spark, but i think its time for a tune up, get some new wires, new plugs, and abviously you getting a new coil. Just be carefull and dont flood the engine cause that's a pain. Good luck.

ok, but after changing the plugs before, the car would run good for like 10 min and then start missing really bad. I checked the plugs and they were all black and smelled like gas. Any idea as to why my plugs are going bad so fast ??

What are they gapped to? I agree though look at plug wires and and new plugs.

They were gapped to .030 I believe. Wires were good. One of the coils is goin to be replaced because it was getting weak spark. Hopfully that will stop the misfiring and the engine from rocking back and forth.

most likely your engine is flooded so to unflooded keep cranking it with one of the sparks off, and you probably gona go through 2-3 pairs till you get it starting

Or it could be your crank sensor getting ready to take a dump. Thats something that controls your spark as well as your fuel.

In the 1g its the CAS, but in the 2g its the . The 1g CAS had both the cam and crank signals built into it, quite nice. After the body style changed, the 2g made the cam and cranks sensors seperate. In the 2g the CAS is still in the same spot, but now the CPS is inside the timing belt housing next to the crank pulley. Kind of a b!tch to do. If it winds up being that, PM me and ill send you a diagram that gets around having to change out the 2g CPS and wire it up a different way. Let me know.
