So i am currently re assemling my stock 1g head. Do i need to use assembly lube on the cam bearing caps or should i just throw some oil on them before start up? If so, what kind of lube? So far ive resurfaced the head, cleaned the lifters and rocker arms, new headgasket too. anything else im forgetting to do before i put the head back on the car? Oh also, is there any lube or perhaps loctite needed on the bolts that hold the cam bearing caps in place as well?
can i use arp assembly lube for any of this because i have a bottle full....?? Thanks in advance.....

the valves & springs never came out. All im putting in are the lifters, rockers, caps, and cams. Im re using my old arp's. Is that ok, ive only used them once for about 200 miles..

I can't think of anything that assembly lube could hurt. The oil will have it all flushed out in moments, and there's nothing in assembly lube that isn't compatible with engine oil. Use it where moving parts come together, but there's no need to go wild. Any lube you can touch isn't doing any lubricating.

Yes lube the caps and cut out in the head. A little on the bearing surface of the cam wouldn't hurt too. I used the red Permatex Assy Lube on my last build. It's available at any decent auto parts store.

On my 2G build I bleed all the lifters in diesel cause they were sitting around for a few months. Even though they were clean externally, they burped some dirt/grit. Are all the tops of the lifters hard to push down with your fingers? If not may need to bleed or replace.

No Loctite. Put some lube on the cap bolts prior to install. The ARP assy lube, the moly grease looking stuff, will work or even clean 30 weight motor oil.
