Can any one tell me this t4 turbo is good on my dsm?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I have never used it, but you really have to be very cautious when buying ebay turbos, they are very cheap knock offs and you really dont want to cheap out on a turbo. In all honesty, you get what you pay for when it comes to turbos. Just a heads up

Never buy off ebay. It might say it fits a 4g63 but it won't. That kit could be for anything. Just stick to established performace shops to buy parts so that if something goes wrong you have somewhere to kick the door in.

Never buy performance parts off of eBay. Don't know who manufactures the turbo and I will guaranteed that exhaust manifold will crack or even split. Not to mention the intercooler and "46mm" wastegate will be far from comparable to real performance parts.

It will more likely do damage to the rest of your engine than give the power the seller say it can. Just think reasonable. Real performance parts cost $$$, i.e. intercooler alone cost $600-$1000. Don't buy that wannabe ricer package from eBay.

Turbos, engine parts and clutches are a nono on ebay

No thats not true, you can buy lots of excellent turbos, engines & clutches on Ebay, IF you know what your looking for & thats the key. Yes like you said there is also lots of inferior/knockoff products on there as well. If you do your research & know what your looking for, then you can get some good deals. If your new, or don't know what your looking for, then stay away.

Ever heard the old saying, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is? or you get what you pay for? Think about it, do you think your going to get any sort of quality for a complete setup like that for $520 when normally it will easily cost you $1500+? Those kits are cheap knock off products. Look up the vendors from this site, so you know your getting a product that will last.

Again with the EBay bashing. Just use common sense, if it's too good to be true it probably is.
Some parts are just as good as the real stuff. Sometimes all it takes is a little know how to make it work right for you.
There are plenty of people that are happy with their EBay turbo's. Intercoolers too. SSAC FMIC for example, they're even better than the Greddy FMIC kits because they have short route piping. And they cost less than 1/2 of the Greddy.

Either way, I think that money could be better spent. You don't need a t4 turbo. You can work up your 14b to its max.

Personally if I had $600 to blow on your car I would,

1.make sure its all up to date on maintenance

2.do all the free mods

3.add a K&N too your hacked air can 50$

4.get a boost gauge and controller 100$

5.buy a downpipe and a matching sized muffler, have a shop bend you the pipe (cat optional) 250$ maybe less.

6.Might be able to pull of an eBay FMIC kit with the last $200 if you do your own piping...you can just replace the SMIC piping too. And/or do a few budget mods. Like liquid nail motor mounts, home depot ground wires, rewire fuel pump, home made intakes...

7.Make sure all your mods are working properly. Double check for boost leaks.

Just follow the upgrade path and you should be alright.

beat me to the punch...

This is a lot bigger question than most people realize. I'm going to go ahead and say that if someone even asks the question, "will this turbo work for me?", they have no idea what they are doing and are not ready to do any work on their car.

Research more, read more, don't blow anything up. People who ask questions like these have no idea what they are getting into.
