so today i went to look at my ecu to figure out if it was an eprom ecu or not. i got a suprise. it is a remanufactured ecu. its all black says its ASE certified and has a code number and that is it. my only way to figure out is to pop it open and look for the E symbol on the chip right? someone let me know if i am wrong or correct

Yea it should have an E on the chip.

The only want to know for sure it to always open it up and look for the EPROM chip on the board.
Unless your the original owner and never let anybody work on your car you have no way of knowing what's been changed/swapped.
