Does anyone know how to install a bov in a 2g eclipse i was just wondering if there any step by step instructions on this site like i got for my short throw shifter also can anyone reccomend the best ajustable bov and will any flang work or will i need a special one for each bov and for my car

You need an adapter for an aftermarket flange. I had a welder weld a pipe for my turbo xs bov, it looks alot nicer then that ridiculous adapter. If you don't want your car doing funny things like shutting of at a light get it recirculated.

You can also consider a stock 1g bov its better than the plastic piece of #$%^ that comes in a 2g.

I suggest a greddy so you can recirculate it

Do you have a bov to install or do you want some recommendations? If you're looking for a cheap, proven one, get a 1g bov.

Yes, you'll need a certain flange for each different bov (the flange usually comes with the bov if you buy it new, but if you get a 1g from a junkyard, just get the flange as well).

And as for installing it, you'll need to put the flange on your upper intercooler pipe. If you don't have a hard uicp, this would be the time to get one. Then get the flange welded on. Then put the bov on the flange. As easy as that. Just don't forget to hook up the vacuum line (in which nothing should be teed into it) and the recirculation hose!!

Could also get like a 5" pipe to get the flange welded on.

I'd recomend a 1G. Great for up to 16psi and can hold more if crushed/garage mod.

I have a forge bov from forgemotorsports that uses the stock 2g flange and recirculates. It came with two different springs aswell depending on how much psi you plan to run. I payied 170 dollars straight from forge, and it was here in 3 days and the quality is amazing.

EDIT: woops sorry I didn't see you wanted an adjustable bov

Yeah, but no one gives a flying shit about this product because it requires you to stick with the OEM plastic UICP, which sucks big hairy balls.

Our valves ARE adjustable (thats what the springs are for, we have springs rated from <5-40+ psi). We make bolt-on valves for both the 1st and second gen DSMs, recirc and atmo. We can build with GReddy style flanges also.

At a little extra cost and time to the buyer, no doubt. ;) Good to hear Forge offers and supports such alterations. :thumb:

or get an evo 8 + bov. its non adjustable... but thats just one less thing to worry about IMO. it took me a few minutes to put mine in. plus mine bov is off the EVO MR so its not plastic. cheaper than most aftermarkets, plus you dont need an adapter.
on the other hand... when you want another UICP youll have to find one that fits the valve(which is like trying to find one that fits the stock valve, damn near impossible...). OR you can make an adapter, or weld the bov to the pipe.

Yeah, I bought an Evo MR metal BOV last summer. Was going to try to make an adapter for it, but realized it wasn't worth my time, money, or energy. I does perform quite well though, I hear.

Remember, if you were going to try to make an adapter, you would have to change/alter the entire bottom of this particular BOV. This would include cutting off the extention, drilling three holes in the bottom "flange" (there is really no where to drill due to minimal room), and making a custom flange (the bottom part of the BOV is more of a bubbly rectangle, nothing like a standard Greddy flange or 1G BOV flange). Not to mention that you would probably be trying to match it up with some other hard intercooler piping that already has a particular flange in place. That may also have to be altered/changed/cut off.

Not worth it, IMHO. Go with something proven instead. This BOV is good in the short term for someone who still has the OEM plastic UICP, but basically worthless in the longterm, when other things come into consideration.

If you are really on a budget, get a plastic Evo 8 bov. You can get one for 20 bucks shipped from the evo forums and it fits and looks exactly like stock. You dont need a flange or anything and it holds 19-21 psi of boost. I used to have one but i just switched to a Greddy Type-s because it broke when my car got in a collision.

You can also check ebay for some knockoff blow off valves. They usually come with the adapter for your specific car.

I would agree that this is a good short-term solution. But in the long run you'll end up buying something else to replace it. Again, if you're going to stick with the OEM UICP for a while, go for it. But if you're looking for an upgrade for that POS UICP, look for another reliable BOV option.
