I have a '91 Laser (fwd auto) with a 13g. a friend of mine has a 16g off of his 2gen eclipse that i can get cheap. i know i need a fuel pump and injectors and probably a 2gen manifold. is this a good way to go go or should i get a different turbo?

Thanks in advance, ajm

Evo 3 16g is a nice turbo and a 2nd gen manifold is better than 1g but it will still work whit your stock manifold and yeah you should get at least 450cc injector or just run it at waste gate pressure till you have the money for up grades which waste gate pressure is 10psi..

You could get a m/t ecu, that would control the 450 injectors. An alternative to the AFC (my ecu went out),I went that route without the turbo upgrade...if you can get one cheap if not get the AFC

Hey whats up guys i was thinking of upgradeing my turbo I have a 91 GSX 5spd.. everthing stock now i found this turbo at a good price on ebay .. it says it sizes are T3 T4 T04E Turbocharger
.50 A/R Compressor, .63A/R Turbine

  T3 Flange to Manifold
5 Bolt Downpipe Flange
3" Inlet & 2" Outlet
Computer Balanced Individually

now is this a good turbo to put on my car sorry im realy new at this turbo stuff or should i just stick with my stock turbo my car has a 109.000 orig mil.. and i pulled my turbo out and its in really good cond.. no shaft play is what the kid told me when he came my house to look at it ..so not sure if what to do??? any ??? thanks

If your current turbo is still good, I'd spend the money on other stuff first. For the price of a debateably low quality turbo, you could get yourself started on fuel upgrades that would really help you out in the long run when it is time to get rid of the 14b (which is a pretty decent turbo already). If you're really itching to get some more horses, invest in an MBC (I noticed that you already have exhaust and a boost gauge).

I think there was another fellow recently that was looking into a 16g upgrade for his auto. Remember you'll need a new oil feed line or see if your friend will throw that in with the turbo. The auto oil feed line will not bolt up to a 16g without jerry rigging it.

It can be tempting, but don't increase your boost until you have the mods to support it. 390's + high boost = bad news.

Why not? The cartridge is the same so it should thread in fine.

Don't buy it, all the honda boys are buying them like crazy and every one that I have seen installed was smoking like a train from the first second the car fired up.

OK ...... Thanks guys im gonna just stick wit the stock one and start putting the money in other stuff .. lastnight I ordered a MBC... and a FMIC .... so i'll just keep adding little things like that.. thanks for the Advice guys.. saveing me from brakeing shit and wasting my money... : )

Nice! After that FMIC I'd start stockpiling fuel and tuning mods. I went the other route and got myself a E3 16g without any supporting mods (my T25 was toast) but now i'm REALLY itching to up the boost, but can't because I need to get all my supporting mods done. I think you'll be much happier with your future new turbo if you've already got all the tools to tune with.

To the OP and any others looking to upgarde their auto DSM's turbos, the 13g oil feed port and line are smaller than what comes on the manual DSM and 14b. I know this speaking from experience I gained when I didn't know about this 7 years ago and got a free 14b that didn't quite bolt up.

This requires either jerry rigging, like I did back then (Helicoil the orginal threads), getting a stock replacement from a manual or an aftermarket SS line. Set in order of worst fix to best fix.

That doesn't make sense. I'm not saying your wrong I'm just trying to understand since I never swapped turbos on an auto. Did you helicoil the threads in the in turbo cartridge?

It sounds like you just crossed threaded the threads in the head.
