I am having this problem with my 95 GSX. I did some research and found some info on it, but I still am stuck in a rut..

My car is pretty much all stock, no mods as of yet I am just trying to get her to run right first. When I drive normal the car is fine, its when I go to pass someone or ever get on the gas a little bit the car seems to buck or hit a fuel cutout of some sort? My plugs, wires and coils are all new so it's not that. To get to the point, im stuck between the fuel filter and the cat convrt 02 sensor? I was reading up on the problem and someone mentioned disconnecting the sensor around the cat and it should fix the problem. I was thinking it was the fuel filter, but sometimes when you floor it it bogs out and makes a popping sound or something in the exhuast?? it's kind of hard to explain..

any tips or ideas would be greatful. maybe even links if i missed something when searching. thanks guys!!

sounds like a boost leak to me. check all your vaccuum lines, especially to the wastegate. also get an accurate boost gauge, you will need to buy one eventually. but deffinately sounds like a boost leak to me.

okay, thanks man. I guess i didn't think about a boost leak, because when you slowly get on the gas it sometimes doesn't do it you know. Is there a diagram of all the vac lines I should check? there should be something under the hood right?

i should just make a boost tester, but i might hold off until i get a boost gauge.

once again thanks for your help!

+2 boost leak. Does your turbo furiously spool under part throttle accelerating? Visually inspect hose connections at the turbo inlet, lower IC pipe, side mount (Top and bottom), upper IC pipe, BOV, TB. There is no other way to find a boost leak without pressurizing the intake path. Invest in a cheap compressor and boost leak tester.

Use the above as a reference guide.

a tester will cost you under $10. Alot of Gas stations offer free air, its a cheap way to save yourself some money and save some money burning fuel due to running rich.

A plugged cat will mostly cause a hesitation. If you have any way of checking the reading's from the 02 sensor's to make sure they are osilating (sp?). The sensor after the cat will have MUCH longer waves where as the pre cat sensor will have peak's where it goes from rich-lean-rich-lean, ect... Another way to find out if its the cat is to have a friend drive behind you on the highway. You then floor it, as hard as you can, and your friend should be able to smell rotten egg's quickly. If it takes a while then its probably not the cat, because after repeated WOT, the cat won't be able to keep up with the influx of HC's( hydro-carbon's[fuel]), and the rotten egg smell will come afterward's. Also I notice that your a 2G. You have OBD II in your car. Do you have a CEL on? If not then your cat is working properly.

Checking for a boost leak can NEVER hurt you, but don't put your egg's all in one basket with that solving the problem. When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? If you don't know then you should change it.

Check the plug wires. on one of our cars (91TSI) changed the plugs & wires shortly there after the engine picked up a studder/stumble when warm and got worse with age. Ended up changing O2 sensor fuel pump&filter. None helped:cry: As last resort bought some high price spread plug wires and new plugs and the problem went away. Ended up being one of the inslator boots started to burn through and only showed up under boost.

Always go back to the last thing you changed before the problem showed up.

Okay, so i took the advise you guys gave me. Which were all great!! Well I checked the plugs all gaped perfect, replaced the wires, fuel filter and did a boost leak test. Everything was good, but then i realized something today when i was driving..When i WOT the exhuast, like right under me sounds like it is stuffed and starts popping. So i think tomorrow morning im going to check out the cat somehow maybe take it off and see if the honeycomb is still intacted. This happened with my old ford probe. The cat blew out without any warning and choked up my exhuast. i had to drop the entire thing to get all the honeycomb out. Then it worked perfect after that.

Im going to do that tomorrow. I need to get that bolt blaster stuff im sure, LOL.

once again thanks for all of your help!!!

i'll let you know what happens after tomorrow.
