tranny problem

I have an automatic tranny and it started acting weird yesterday. I was at a stoplight and went i tried to go, it would just rev as it was in nuetral. And today im driving and it just goes in nuetral and revs when i get on the gas. I have to slow down for it to downshift and then its good for a while but still does the same thing. What could it be ?

Sounds like your tranny is starting to go, sounds exactly like my dad's ford. If you can get your hands on some bg automatic tranny conditioner it would extend the life of that tranny and help your shifts. Another recomendation is check your atf, if it looks brownish gold at all consider getting a atf flush.

yea, im gonna change the tranny fluid today and see it that helps any...

hmmm...changed the fluid and it still does it...what should i look at next ?

Mitsu tranny's are notouriously crappy, most likely your synchros are warn out and thats why you having troubles getting it is having troubles getting into gear. Like i said try and track down some of that BG atf conditioner, that stuff worked great on my dad's truck. Also make sure your vehicle is warm before you start driving, even when you get it run it through the gears with your foot on the brake and make sure you hear every gear before you take off.

It might be the torque converter. My car had a similar problem except it stayed acting like it was in nuetral
