timing question

for a 1g what is the normal timing set at idle. I have my car at the shop and they say the timing is very high at 15. then i called the guy who previously owned my car and he said that it was normal and i shouldnt have the shop adjust it. what should i do?

I believe it is 5 btdc + or - 2 degrees. Basically you would want it a 5 but you need to ground out the timing and the it should be idling around 750 rpms if im not mistaken.

750 rpms? Thats pretty low, won't it be pretty rough then? like in perfect running order but the car will feel rough (atleast from my experience). Does the fact that im running a s-afc change anything?

mine usually idles at 1100 rpm ish....

750rpm is the spec for 2g. Not sure about 1g, but my car purrs just fine at 750.
