I guess I screwed up. I bought this Ingen intake. When I compared it to the stock intake I realized it didn't have the inlet for the BOV. I have a 1996 4G63 2G MAF 1G BOV. I guess there's no way to use it?

From what i've been told it's a major no no also you can still use the pipe you just need to drill the hole out and fit another piece of pipe thru for the recirculting tube and as long as she's sealed good should have no problem.

That's what I was hoping i could do.

Could I not just drill a hole slightly smaller than the appropriate hose and force the hose into the hole?

The recirclating tube isn't really a hose per say. But also there would be a leak there as well you wouldn't really have a way of tightening it down or that matter coming out if its bumped when your workin on the car or such. It's just not right to do it wrong now and fix it later.

I would like to recomend getting a fitting tapping the hold and loctite the fitting so it doesn't come out. The threads would be thin but at least you wouldn't have to bolt it from underneath. Or you could just sell that intake and buy one of the ebay intakes online. THere are huge writeups on here about them and they don't look half bad and for the price what do you have to lose?

Stock it isn't really a hose. I thought I could replace the stock tube with a somewhat flexible hose that I could just poke into a hole. But I want to do the right thing, that's why I'm asking here. I thought even if it wasnt 100% airtight it wouldn't matter much on the intake.

Dear God! Just sell the damn thing and get yourself a proper intake like Taylor3180 said. Your gonna put more money and headache into an intake that in the end won't look (or possibly work) nearly as good as a cheapie off of ebay. Even if you got the thing for free, I'm sure you could sell it for $30 on ebay and then spend another $20 and get the proper one. You'll probably spend at least $20 just trying to make the one you got right now work right.

Hell, I'd probably spend 1/2 that on Excedrin alone. :)

Drill and tap a fitting is what I recommend if it were my car it will look better then jb weld and will last forever. And if your worried about an air leak there you can always get an o-ring to go around the fitting.

Where would I get such a fitting? I thinks it's at a 45 degree angle.

I checked your profile and it doesn't say anything about any tuning tools, such as safc or logger or DSMLink. If your running a GM MAF and MAFT you can use this intake and vent into the atmosphere just fine. If not, then it wouldnt be a good idea to the atmosphere.

I have a SAFC. Can you truly tune out ventinting the BOV to the atmosphere?

Not truly. You can overcompensate for it... but that's not the same. The only way you should be venting to atmosphere is if you're using a GM-MAF with a MAFT. It makes no sense why someone would want to factor in the release of unmetered air into their tuning, when you can simply hook it up correctly. Try not to overcomplicate things.

If you try to run open-atmosphere with that 1G BOV, your call will hate you. The 1G BOV's dont really work like aftermarket BOVs and sometimes are partially open if you are not at WOT. This will cause your car to misfire like it's its job (I'm speaking from experience here).

IMHO, I'd suggest buying the right one like the other guys are saying. What's the point in ghetto rigging it when it'll just look like crapola?

$45 shipped.....not too shabby :thumb:. Just sell that Injen on eBay and put that money plus the money you would have spent making a sh*tty looking recirc tube and get the right part.

It's not worth the extra effort and over time you'll just end up justifying cutting corners. It's good to set a precedence with yourself from the start to not ghetto-rig stuff and do it the right way every time.

Ebay Intake with recirc'ed 1G BOV. I love how it sounds even recirc'ed.

Duh, forgot, LOL, either buy a new one off ebay or you could upgrade to the GM MAF and MAFT now.

+1 for GM-MAF+MAFT...if you have the money for it right now...it will help out in the long run.:thumb:

Edit: Plus then you could make the honda guys wet them selves when you blow by them and they actually hear a DSM with a vented BOV... LOL

"Yo, that G just blew my ear drum...no cool, I'll go get my kroo..."

Never vent a DSM to atmosphere, unless you've gone to a blow-through system.

Putting a recirc tube on that would be gravy, but more work than getting the right part. And, probably more expensive.
