Do it right the first time, save the headache.. I learned this the hard way.
I recently bought a Turbo from ETDMotors off Ebay an not even 150kms of driving with it running stock boost/stock injectors, it ceased on me.. I even primed it with oil before the install. I tried contacting the seller, but no reply yet. What a waste of 300 bucks.
Oh well, now i'm boosting happy with a real EVO3 16g
.....After $1000 later.

Ive been running a ebay 16g for about 5k now and no problems. I ported the waste gate hole and never had boost creep. For the money i spent 240 shipped, I think it was well worth it. I went with the ebay turbo b/c my real Big 16g was blowing oil and I didn't have 500 bucks to spend on a new 16g.

After reading this entire thread, im def gonna go with the Ebay turbo (just graduated University and dont have money to be buying a real big 16 and don't care too if i can get almost the same performance for close to half the price!) i already bought/installed a ebay Turbo Timer and it works perfectly! i think i paid like $30 shipped lol.
BUT from what i read it should be fine. So, ill need the j-pipe if im running a FMIC ?(which i will install at the same time as well as my 02 housing and downpipe).
Does this kit seem sufficient?

An update- I sold the car last week to a kid that got it for a HELL OF A DEAL with all the mods included (dsmlink, 880's etc). It ran strong and fine with 0 shaft play till i sold it. Here are some lessons learned:
1. If you're going to bend the waterpipes, be POSITIVE there are no kinks/holes in them
2. A punishment style j pipe isn't ideal- i got a no name one from laserspeeddemon that was ideal and still allowed for the huge fmic/aluminum radiator/stock fans.
3. The mishimoto aluminum radiator is thicker/wider then stock and the stock fans do not bolt onto it- this may become a fan issue.
4. Change all your water lines w/goodyear ones, it's a small cost and will save a ton of headaches.
5. DO NOT BUY too big an fmic, it looks great but for us ebay 16g'rs a smaller one will be just fine and not bring with it the HUGE headaches of trapped airflow due to the size of the fmic.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hang...coolers-9.html
Please let me know if you think its too big and what would trapped airflow be? and how would i fix it if i got that?

Just my replaced my ebay 16g with a forced performance 16g yesterday. They ebay turbo spooled up nicely buy I could controll boost. I adjusted the wastegate arm so it would extend fully but that still over boosted. I probably could have fixed it by getting a different wastegate accuator and porting the wastegate but I had an oportunity to buy a real one. Works great and I love it.

You don't HAVE to get bigger injectors but they will be needed if you want to run more then 12psi or so. If you have a bigger turbo- i'd imagine you'd want to do that either way.

But if i get a big 16 i can 'supopsely' run up to 15 psi (without tuning). I assume the person meant on stock injectors as well. Is it different when using a 16g perhaps?

So either way, if i want to run more boost, i should get bigger injectors?
Im just trying to sort out buying parts in order. I still need to get a A/F gauge (prob gonna spend the money and go AEM wideband A/F). Then i can install my boost and AF gauges. Then drop in a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, boost controller (have), full turbo-back exhaust (have 02 housing and DP so far), 255 fuel pump and new AFPR. I also already have a FMIC waiting to be installed.
[1] Then ill need a good tune, and ill be good to go?
[2] Anytime you get bigger injectors, you need to tune your car correct? (bc it will be pulsing the same but giving out more fuel then expected bc of larger injectors?)
[3] Can i get someone to tune it at a dyno shop, or do i need my own fuel management program first (SAFC, DMSlink)?

It would benefit you more to get something to tune with before taking it to the shop to have them tune it. Safc would be ok, but DSMlink, ECU + and others would allow you much better control over the functioning of your engine.

A T-25 can boost up to 14 psi without fuel mods. Max boost i have hit so far is 14.3 psi. So since your going to upgrade to the 16g you DEF. want to get a new fuel pump & afpr. BUT need for new injectors.... i would think not. You can get an SAFC and extend the pulse rate of your STOCK injectors. You know... UNTILL you hit fuel cut. Hahaha, THEN i would consider getting injectors. Def. get fuel management 1st tho. I have a walbo fp sitting in my room, i just need the afpr. and EVENTUALLY im going to upgrade to 650's and keep it there. Im not looking for a race car. Just a FAIRLY quick one.
Im def. glad and VERY thankful that you guys did testing on the ebay 16g. I was looking at it because i am also in college and CANT work a full time job. So this helps alot, i was too afraid to be called Noob and be laughed at when mentioning the ebay Evo3 16g turbo. But now that its okay... hows this?
EVO 3 16G Ported Turbo / DSM 1G 2g Includes INSTALL - (eBay.ca item 150284915462 end time 23-Aug-08 22:57:43 EDT)
$200 is kinda low. BUT someone mentioned that it could be a NEW company trying to get their business and reputation off the ground.
And i heard if you get a STAINLESS STEEL ebay full exhaust.... they work just as well.
Any thoughts on this one?
95-99 ECLIPSE GST TURBO CATBACK N1 EXHAUST SYSTEM 96 97 - (eBay.ca item 360080155613 end time 26-Aug-08 20:47:50 EDT)
Thanks, before i found DsmTuners..... i was lost. But now i am found, im not alone... ET go home?
