So I went out and got a new one. It's a '98 GS mitsu motor. Automatic. I know, I know... WTF, right? I don't know what to do to it, so far. I know there's some good things to come out of A/T with the right work and equipment.. But again, I'm not sure. Suggestions?
 
Yikes a 420a motor and a automatic, there really isnt much you can do other then use it as a daily driver. your not going to get much out of modding it, trust me my girl has one and they are simply snails

agreed, just keep the car stock and use it as a DD thats what im doing with mine, i went with the whole modification route with that car didnt work out to good. your best bet is to buy a gsx or tsi.

Well, my other one is pretty much a lost cause until tax season. I figured that 420a - a/t would be a problem, but I somewhat fell in love with it. I WAS looking at a GST, but couldn't afford it... My buddy is swearing up and down that the normal beginner modding for a dsm will do some magic. A goal is about 300whp... Is it feasable? And, as ignorant as a question this is... is a med turbo a good idea, and interchangeable into the dsm, for when I get down and dirty wit the other one?
 
well again i think it would be a waste of time and money to drop into a 420a automatic, theres only so much you could do besides forced induction, but if you go the forced induction route your numbers may be obtainalbe but then again its an automatic.

300hp out of a 420 at please tell me your joking, unless you got unlimited money i dont see that as a possability
 
The route we're taking for this car is pretty simple....

We're going to put a squires turbo on it, hks intercooler kit, bore out engine, sustec pro-seven, Apex'i ext(universal) exhaust, ecu reflash, forced induction, and trading out the transmission of my 97 n/t. Estimation on the dyno return?
