First off i already have searched the forums for this and already have an idea that it may be the TOB or the input shaft bearing and am hoping it's the first one. I just bought the car and the car had a ACT 2100 and the streetlite flywheel, and the owner had the receipts of the trans rebuild which took place last week. Now i took the car to the track last nite and it ran well, but on the last run my friend told me he heard a clicking sound as i pulled up.
this noise could only be heard in first gear after that it was gone. Now I started getting a really loud knock coming out of the transmission which almost sounds like a rod knock in the motor which i originally thought it was. But when I press the clutch in the knock starts to slow down and then goes away. Also when I started the car now to just move it up a few feet it would go forward and then kind of hit , just like when a gear goes out. Is there a possibility it's the transfer case? I'm hoping not because of the noise at idle. i have also noticed an oil leak that I will check out now. Any input or ideas would be helpfull and greatly appreciated.... Thanks in advance for reading all of this Brian<

The "binding" definitely sounds to me like something in the tranny broke. Broken gear teeth or the center diff.

I'd definitely not be driving it right now as if there are broken parts inside the tranny, very high chance that they will find their way out of the case (and not in a good way>>where the oil may be comming from).

Definitely first check to see where the oil is comming from and the fluid levels of both case and tranny.

As an FYI.. years back I had my tranny fully rebuilt locally and within a week my 5th gear cracked and caused a similar noise. The tranny shop repaired it for free under warranty :dsm:

OK, Iappreciate the input, I was starting to think no one was going to reply for a second there. As far as driving it I had just moved it a couple of feet so that I am not blocking the driveway and put my beater car back in the rotation. I will probably go to my friends shop today or tomorrow (depeds how busy he is ) and will take down the trans to se if maybe the TOB flywheel clutch or something like that is messed up. It also did that " when I went into reverse it also did "hit" so there is a possibility center diff or something came loose. Maybe even check with that shop that rebuilt the tranny....oh well once again thank you for the info Brian:dsm:

Mine acted very similarly, and it turned out to be snapped intermediate shaft.
