Hey guys, I would like to know what parts from and 2gen Eclipse or Talon would fit my 1g Talon for better performance? Im going to start a list so that I can start purchasing or looking for the parts. I looked all over the VFAQ site but came up with nothing. Plus it would take me all day to look over that entire site. I also tried searching on this site, and only came up with what from an Evo fits.

Yes Im a newb and but I would like to learn more about my car and all the lil tricks. The VFAQ site is great, but it just takes too long to look over everything.
Thanks in advance,

My brother was telling me about my 2g MAF would be an upgrade to the 1g MAF....Check into that. Im sure there will be someone to post about this to confirm or deny it. Other than that, Im not too sure. the 6 bolt was so much better than a 7 bolt, so I dont know that there would be anything else.

The 2g MAF is a nice thing to pick up, many 1g guys go with it. Run a quick search on it.

The 2g Exhaust Manifold and 02 Housing flow better than the 1g units, especially with some porting done.

The 2g throttle body elbow is also a nice upgrade compared to the 1g. The 2g's black top injectors also have a better spray pattern, but are not really worth the upgrade.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, I'll edit my post if anything else comes to mind.

He has a '94. 1Gb, meaning a seven-bolt engine. Only first-half '92s came with the six-bolt. 92.5+ were all sevens. Even so, the '90 was the strongest out of them, with bigger rods, stronger pistons and a beefier crank. Down side being the 90's electrical stupidities.. way easier to get a new longblock dropped in than to rewire the whole car and change out all the sensors.

On the up side, 1G seven-bolts don't appear to have the same amount of crankwalk problems as 2Gs, so it's not even an issue so long as you have a 1G. The only appreciable difference is that the head bolts/studs on the 1G seven-bolt are smaller in diameter than the six-bolt headstuds.

TunedDSM got the back-grade parts... 2G MAF (with a way to compensate for how much richer the signal it sends is, compared to the 1G MAS), 2G TB elbow (if you don't have hard a UICP that already replaced the stocker), 2G exhaust manifold (MUCH less prone to cracking!), and 2G O2 housing (more flow). He did miss one though... 2G shifter knob. :D

According to this sites comparison that was 90-92...

How come no one mentioned the 4 bolt rear?

Calipers/rotors interchange?

He should have a 4 bolt rear. I think they changed that over along with the 7 bolts.

Good call. GSX 2 piston front calipers and respective rotors.

He doesn't have a rear end, it's a FWD... ROFL

You have DSMLink so you could benefit from a 2G maf, but if your still on 550 injectors you don't need it.

I think most was probably covered...

1g rod/2g piston is a good budget build combo
2g head flows better, high rise ports, but should be matched with a 2g intake manifold as well
2g mass, which requires a little rewiring. How to: http://www.vfaq.com/mods/2GMAF-1G.html
2g side mount has more surface area, but the 1g is thicker. Overall 2g one would be a little better

Incorrect, the 91 used the smaller rods that the early 92s did as well. Only the 90 had the 'big' rods.
He's a FWD. Converting a 1G FWD to AWD is a bi*** on wheels, as compared to the 2G FWD/AWD swap (significantly easier!!). Also, we were talking about 2G->1G swaps, not 1G->1G swaps. I do not believe a 2G rear-end can be fitted to a 1G.
Also, the early '92 model-year already came with the 6/4. Six bolt engine, four bolt rear. If only it had popup headlights. :(

2-pot GSX calipers ARE a good upgrade, BUT they are not direct-fit when swapping from 2G to 1G or vice-versa. 1Gs use screw-in lines, while 2Gs use banjo bolt fitting lines. You can get 'mismatch' lines from RRE to use them, but they are NOT a direct bolt-on, and we're talking about parts that can be taken from a 2g and put on a 1G. Much cheaper to just go get a set of 93-94 GSX/3KGT SL/Diamante front 2-pots and put them on.

Everyone seems to say that, but no one has actually put one on a proper flow bench and actually tested it against a 1G head, as far as I've seen. Show me actual numbers for each.
I'll concede that the 2G may have a better swirl pattern as the mixture enters the cylinder, and that it may gain more from scavenging during low-throttle driving due to the narrower ports and runners. But when push comes to shove, the 1G head/manifold has larger ports and runners, and WILL flow more than the 2G, hands-down.
