I was talking with my friend today about a car i found for sale it was a 99 eclipse spyder manual with less then 100k miles, he said that i should not put a turbo on a spyder because the frame is built less durable then GSX's, is this true?

Spyders came in two trims; GS and GS-T. The GS is equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.4l, the 4g64, while the the GS-T shares the same 2.0l turbocharged 4g63 as the turbo coupes. The Spyder GS's frame is identical to the Spyder GS-T's.
Yes, you can safely turbo a Spyder GS.

Also, aren't Spyders the only ones that make for a good AWD conversion. I thought they were built using the AWD everything, but the GSTs' weren't. That's just something I heard though. The 7 bolt 4G64 is a good block too and aren't the non-turbos 4 speed manual as well? Sounds like I need to brush up on some info here lol.
NO spyders make for a very hard AWD swap, you basically have to replace the hole back of the car and even modify the body....but they are REALLY cool AWD
They sure are really cool AWD... other than the drive train and the rear suspension, I also believe a fuel cell has to be placed in the "trunk" to clear the new drivetrain. this is done because of where the top goes when its down.
The NA spyder (2.4) did not come with a 4-speed manual. They came with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed auto.
Spyders are actually easier. And turboing the 4g64 is awesome, do it!!!!
That's what I thought. ####ing guy telling me I'm wrong lol. Obviously it's still a very involved and tedious swap and you still need an AWD donor car, but at least shit will fit correctly and you won't have to an insane amount of fabbing brackets and shit like that. Yeah 4G64 is a larger displacement so in theory should be damn fun boosted. IDK which cylinder head is more efficient though, but I'd bet the turbo one is. You can probably make that happen though.
