Turbo Blown...but from what?

I recently installed a turbo on my car and it was running fine for about 500 miles. Than one day coming home on the highway with cruise control on, when the turbo tried to spool it sounding terrible. I kind of buzzing, vibrating, high pitched grinding and it could not boost. I found that the oil return line had a small kink in the line but I could tell by compressing it that oil could still flow. Is this what caused the turbo to go? Is the turbo salvageable?

If it were an Oil issue, It would probably have siezed. I've heard this sound once before on my own turbo, Somthing had shot through my engine into the turbo wheel and took out a fin. No boost and lots of noise. I would pop the turbo off and inspect it!
