Is this the ebay intake?

I ordered the same one, the only problem I had is the coupler that attaches onto the turbo fits onto the turbo inlet fine, but does not taper down for the intake side.

There are many of those ebay eclipse turbo intake pipe and filter.. aka the Injen kit. They are all the same with a few variations. The biggest obviously is the price, but the higher price usually introuduces a difference that is probably not worth it.

There are some kits as you first linked that is $100, still cheaper than the actual Injen one. But still overpriced considering other ebay kits are 40-60 shipped. So whats the difference? You get some expensive BRAND NAME filter that comes with the no name pipe kit. Is it worth it? Probably not. Unless it includes a carb sticker like the Injen FPIK, then don't waste your money.

Which brings us to the ones you should be looking at in the first place. The ones that cost 40-60. There are some that includes 2 filter adapter, thats right 2!. One 4" filter adapter I believe, and the other which is like a 3". Both are included. Nice touch eh? Even the injen doesn't include 2. Only 1. The filter that comes with the kit however is usually for use with the smaller adapter. But that leaves you with an extra filter adapter. I used mine for my other GSX to make a cold air intake (assuming you have an FMIC with short route). I just bought a filter and used it. Its really a nice bonus.

Another difference which could alter the price is the oolor of the piping. The all black kit, including black powdercoated/painted pipe, hoses, couplers usually are the most expensive of the bunch, costing around $60+ depending on what auctions are available at the time of purchase.

There is one that has a black pipe, but still blue couplers. This is a bit less than the all black kit, but still more expensive than the standard kit:

which consist of polish finish pipe, and blue hoses, couplers.

BTW: The coupler that attaches to the turbo is too big---that is if you are installing it on a t25. Not only is it too big for the t25 inlet, it is just plain weak rubber. You can make it work, if you have a clamp you can tighten down more than the one included, but I opted NOT to do it because I had nice proper size silicone coupler, and did not want to do the el ghetto method. Other than that, everything else works and fits great.

I have a review of the ebay kit, on the review/tech section, however bcause of the server upgrade, all my pics have been wiped out. But I highly recommend it, and I've purchased it for 3x for 3 different 2gs. I don't know how I could get myself to buy the injen one now, unless I was a brand name junkie, surprisingly there are many that still would just for that very reason.

Good luck.

i have read your tech article and i was wondering what to do about that fitment issue with the turbo inlet. i'm hoping that it'll miraculousy fit on mine but since you mentioned a proper sized silicone coupler, just wondering where did you get yours and what is the size of it?

Yes, those couplers are really cheap rubber. I got the black intake and it was a great but tight fit in my buddys 2gen. It did not come close to fitting in my 1gen with a 2g MAS

I have an Ebay intake too and the coupler that I got was also too big, however I was able to tighten down with the clamps provided. I just painted it over the weekend and the new coupler for the turbo inlet that I bought to replace that one is 2.25". Fits like a glove.

I am just wondering if this is the ebay link that everyone talks about here? I am wondering because it is about $50 cheaper than any other I can find like the estremepsi.com or dejon tool.

Just my .02. I am just as cheap as the next guy but I can tell you one thing. I bought an intake pipe from dejon and you think to yourself god that is expensive for a piece for a pipe. When I recieved my intake pipe I was blown away by the quality and the sheer weight of it. If you buy one from dejon it will more than likely be the last one you buy because it comes with adapters to work on a 14B, T25 or anything up to a three inch opening. As I said just my .02 Travis

I'm gonna have to agree with Travis on this one. You do get what you pay for. I have buddies that have bought the ebay one and some of them are good, but others have like huge casting pits on the intake and stuff. Mostly cosmetic, but if you are anal like me everything must look perfect, otherwise I can't justify spending the extra $$ for the name brand one.

I have the $200 3.5" intake pipe ONLY from dejon on my other GSX, and use the ebay on my beater GSX and other DSMs I work on. After now owning both, I dont know how I paid so much for a piece of pipe before--of course at the time the ebay ones were not around.

With the $40-60 price tag, you can go out and buy your own silicone reducer/coupler and still have the total price way cheaper than any. It really is hard to beat for the price, just like the 2g ssac kit.

"Definitely don't polish the inside of tanks or pipes. An ultra smooth surface causes capillary tension on the surface layer of air with the wall & will increase drag..."

installed mine today. coupler is just slightly loose but nothing a good tight clamp won't fix. i actually had trouble getting the coupler on the MAS and intake. that thing is super tight. it seems really insecure though. running over a couple dozen of potholes would loosen it i bet. we'll see. when driving, i can actually hear the air being sucked in. the insides arent that bad either. it's not rough, but it's not entirely smooth either. i might actually get around to replacing some of the vac lines with the red silicone for "bling" affect.

So I just bought the intake from the first post for 46.99 all together. Hoping it comes soon and I will write up a review for it and probably a simple tech/DIY thread with some pics. I got the chrome one but plan o paint it red or black. Any tips on painting these things? Standard primer with high temp enamel?

Yeah I just painted mine over the weekend. I used standard sandable primer with high temp engine enamel. Also used clear coat , I think it came out good.

I know this is late but I just got my intake put on, they sent me the wrong pipe the first time around! The only issue was the coupler on the turbo was a little big, but I expected that due to the aforementioned faq! Other than that it was a good buy! Definitely can tell the turbo spools faster! Sorry for taking so long to post!:dsm:

I have an injen intake that came with the car and an ebay intake I have from my last car. I'm currently runnning the ebay intake just becasue the injen doesnt have a bov return. When I had them both side by side it was hard to tell the diffrence. The injen was a little bit smoother inside but that was the only thing I could notice. Next time I have the intake off I will take pics of them side by side and the insides of both so you can decide.
