jdm boost controller

Actually you really don't need that T fitting. And also, I wouldn't trust those Ebay "JDM" boost controllers.
See, the T fitting is for you to T into the BOV line as a boost source but the best place would be to drill and thread a hole in your J pipe and screw in a nipple to get a proper boost source so that you dont get boost spikes.

Ok time to correct again. that is not a normal MBC that is a bleeder style, not a ball and spring like everyone else has. the way that one works is that it is basiclly a controlled boost leak. You want to throw this in the garbage as soon as possible and pick up a $10 ball and spring MBC. trust me

That I do not know for sure... I would not use the BOV line for a boost source to control boost from, that is just asking for problems. You need to keep the lines between your pressure source (pre-throttle body, an preferebly as close as possible to the turbo outlet) and wastegate as short as possible.

If it were me, I would hook it up like the diagram from turbosmart.

Did it come with any instructions at all?

Edit: ^^ Yea it is a bleeder type controller, not the best, but it will work if you need it to.

What, precisely, is the difference between the Japanese domestic market boost controler and my "USDM" boost controler?

I think that abbreviation is way over used....

You got tricked by a fake JDM ebay ad that was suppose to be meant for the Honda boys. "JDM" stylez should have little to no ill effect on DSMers. They just use that to attract--no offense--n00bs to buying their product instead of another ebay seller. Typical ebay tactics though.

As for the install, it installs just as the same MBC that it was cloned after.

As for the comment on trusting ebay MBCs, I have been using one of the ball/spring <$10 shipped ebay ones (even comes in specified color(3 to pick from)), for a while, and has held boost fine. Nothing wrong with those at least.
