hey i was just wondering, anyone know the average lifespan on a auto tranny .. i have a 99 gs .. right now my car is getting rebuilt, should i get the tranny as well? anyone know a estimated cost of a tranny rebuild or putting another tranny in.

i went to that ipt site cause i saw it was recommended in other posts but only saw it was for gst/gsx ..

You have a GS, so your transmission isn't taking much abuse at all. Unless you have been experiencing problems with your transmission, I wouldn't bother rebuilding or replacing it.

Unless there's something wrong with it or you're putting together a race car, I don't see any reason to tear apart a good transmission.

The auto tranny on my 98 Talon TSI was still working fine after 183,000 miles. I had it rebuilt along with the stroker upgrade just to keep from worrying while on boost.

FWIW the fluid was changed every 50K.
