Is this a good turbo kit?

The problem with not wanting to spend a lot can actually cost you more later. Ebay turbos have been known to fall apart. There made with knock off parts that just don't last. However, some people have had some luck with them. Why pay that much for the turbo and risk it breaking and have to buy another one. Forcedperformance has them for 599+shipping and if you look around the classifieds you can probably pick a 16g used for about that price.. patience :) read around about ebay turbos and then make your decision.

Sorry oldman. My bad dejon powerhouse has them also for $559. anybody have any luck with them?

I would definitely order from Dejon over anyone off eBay. Even if there's a turbo that's being sold on eBay that isn't a knockoff, it's still more in your best interest to order from a respectable shop such as Dejon, simply because if you have a problem, they can help you out. Also, you know you're getting what you paid for. Then there's the fact that their staff is much more knowledgable than most every Joe Schmoe resellign his parts. Dejon > eBay in my opinion.

Turbotsithatfly, what is your budget? What is your goal for the car? Buying a genuine MHI EvoIII 16g is better than the ebay 16g. Don't forget if you are purchasing the MHI EvoIII 16g you'll also need a 2g install kit.

You get what you pay for. Thats a knock off turbo charger that have been known to fail. Its hit or miss, one may work and one may die in the first run. Seen it happen with these ebay turbos. If you want a 16g get a real MHI Turbo.

my outlook on ebay is that it's good for simple mods such as intake, strut bars or anything exterior. anything else is risking damage to the engine. turbos are very delicate and are precision machines. if it's not balanced correctly, you could be looking at some expensive internal damage. imagine the turbo tearing itself up and sending slivers of metal into your cylinders. spend the extra few hundred bucks and get something that has excellent reviews and is trusted by many.

I just got back from the beach this weekend and i was talking to this guy who said when he first got his 1g he bought a cheap kit from ebay and he said the first pull the compressor housing cracked and the manifold flange broke. Thats just my input, I have an SSautochrome o2 dump and never had a problem with it, but i think turbo wise get the good stuff, includinging good couplers, i bought cheap ones for my 50 trim and have needed to replace everyone so far, so realy in the long run you will spend more for cheap stuff.

My goals for the car is about 300 hp or more. but for now all i want to do is put a different front mount and the evo 3 16g. i have allready got a 02 housing with external dump pipe, boost controller, exhaust, intake etc... i wan't to run it off the stock fuel system for now. about 14-15psi.

I hear everyone saying that ebay turbos are a piece of crap. But does anyone speak from experience? My buddy's running a xspower 50trim and he's pushing 430whp and he's had it for almost a year. My uncles running the same exact turbo on his srt-4 at 24psi and its been solid for the past 6 months too.

They are not "dissing it", they are simply saying that ebay turbo's are hit and miss. Maybe your friend and uncle plain and simple just got lucky. Personally I wouldn't buy anything off ebay unless the seller has had lots of good ebay reviews. I look at it like this, would you buy a car off ebay without seeing it in person, or would you look in the local newspaper and actually physically go look at the car and know what your buying. The turbo i suggest is the hrc super 16g, I have run it without fuel mods at 12 psi and it doesn't creep at all and no knock either. At 12 psi that turbo allowed me to beat a h22 swapped accord and a slightly modded gts-t. Also i still have lots of room to upgrade.

I just told you, my friend had first hand expierience, if you believe in an ebay turbo kit than go buy one, i wouldn't argue about it, all i have to say is you could possibly spend more in the long run, these cars deserve the best parts anyway!

Ebay turbos are an almost exact clone with inferior parts. Nobody can dispute that. That's why they are damn near 1/2 the price of the real ones. Not to mention I doubt the mass production Ching Chong Meow turbo companies put any real R&D into them or test them in real world situations. Sure you can probably coax them along for a little while, but they are an inferior product. I have a bunch of Honda buddies and they have all tried the Ebay turdblows with varying degrees of success, but the general consensus is that they will fail almost immediately or hang in there for a little while, but eventually take a crap.

Bottom Line: You get what you pay for every time.

P.S. Sorry for re-beating the dead horse that is Ebay turbos vs known turbos. I know it's been discussed on about every car forum more than once too. Get the MHI. Used MHI is better than new Chinese IMO. If you do go Chinese get a restrictor because you'll blow the seals (technically called O-rings) almost immediately if you let full oil pressure rush through the Chinese turbo.
