Ok I've searched everywhere i could think of to find the answere to this question. I've read alot of post's about LSD's for the T-case, in more that one it talked about welding your oem LSD input and output shafts to the LSD housing. Why would you not just stick a spool in place of the LSD I'm shure it is alot stronger that a welded oem LSD. I know they sell spools for domestic rearends and they work verry well I've used them. Is their not a company that makes a spool for the T-case? I've read every bit of information i could find in the forums pertaning to this question but could not find anything. If im not understanding how the LSD works inside the T-case please let me know. I was just thinking that if you can weld the oem LSD to make a solid unit why would they not sell a much stronger solid unit like a spool to put in place of the LSD. If this is not possible let me know why.
 
The transfer case is only a pair of gears. The coupling (it's not an LSD, it's a viscous coupler) lives in the transmission. You may have an LSD in the rear differential, under the back of the car.
 
Ok, I understand more now. But from what I've read people weld the input shaft and the output shaft to the viscous coupler housing causing the unit not to slip or give at all making it one solid unit, if people do this often Im just woundering why they dont sell a solid unit to put in place of the viscous coupler, somthing like a spool that is much stronger. The reason I say this is from my understanding when you weld the input and output shafts to the viscous coupler housing then the torque is supposed to be split an even 50% front and rear all the time, and their is no use for the viscous coupler anymore
