i was looking to get fp2x cams and they say you NEED dual valvesprings for it and i was searching looking for some good dual springs and realized there are not that many out there that are less than 400 bux. i saw the SI dual springs and thought those seemed pretty good but saw a thread of someone saying there is a known problem with those springs so i was wondering what are some good affordable dual springs. oh and im eventually going to go stroker so i really dont need anything that is designed to go past 8k.

just get something brand name that isnt too cheap... since you wont be revving past 8k, you should be fine with something a lil stronger than stock...

I have been running my FP2x's with single Manley Springs and retainers for the last Two years revving to 7750 without any problems.

I requote you for my setup but take out the aftermarket retainers and add 8500rpms. I've done the same for years as well. FP can go choke on their dual springs. The profile of the 2X grind is not drastic from fp2s at all. fp2s are ok w/ stock springs. . .

Single springs should be fine, as long as they have a greater pressure rating and spring rate.

FP2Xs have slightly greater lift and wider band, with similar duration as the FP2s. The dual springs merely compensate for the greater lift to allow one spring to operate in it's peak range while the other approaches its ineffective range. A single spring with a solid mid-range performance should work fine if you're not exceeding 8k.

The primary thing is to close those valves very quick - faster than the stock will be able to at high rpms. With greater pressure, upgraded retainers, fresh guides, and valve seals are highly recommended on high-mileage engines.

im using the supertech dual valve springs and FP2x without any problem on high rev .
The FP2x is really nice cam on idle and high rev with better valves acceleration from HKS 272 .
