Well if its a 90, it would be a 6 bolt with a 3 bolt rear. I dont think there's a such thing as a 5 bolt.. Yea 90's they look different then the 92-and up.
 
If it is all original then it has a 6 bolt motor, 3 bolt rear end, the 90 ecu is different, and some of the sensor plugs are different then the 91 and up.
 
The 6 bolt is better, but the 7 bolt has better pistons

If it is an eprom then you can use dsmlink, I think all the 90 came with the eprom.

As you are correct about the 90 being a 6-bolt, and that there is no such thing as a 5-bolt, know that there are many differences between a 90 and a 92+ other than looks. Hell, there are many differences in a 90 and a 91, even though they look the same. For starters, the transmission shift cables and shifter base (in car) are different, ECU is different, tach signal is different, harness difference at the coil, CAS is different, BOV position is different... just to name some off the top of my head.
