So I just paid a lot of money to have my water pump and timing belt replaced 3 weeks ago and now my car is over heating again. Any ideas? And no I dont believe it was an oem water pump since the job was done by a local mechanic. It was probably something from Napa

I hope the mechanic at least checked the thermostat to see if that was the problem before replacing the waterpump. It could also be a plugged radiator. Older cars get cruddy deposits sitting at the bottom of their radiators, impeding the flow of coolant.

Well like Importmodder said, did he check the thermostat? That could have been the simplest fix. If you got the waterpump replaced and it is still is overheating and you find out it was something different you spent alot of money for nothing. Does it over heat real bad like all the way to high? Do you need to shut the car off or does it not go up enough where you can drive it around? If it doesn't overheat all the way I would say it isn't your water pump for sure.
