hey whats the difference?, im hearing from websites remanufactured is better, but never heard from people with real life experience or anything. I have a 420a engine. not that many places around here apparently do rebuild for eclipse and the cheapest i found quoted me: $2400 .. 2-3weeks to get it done, didnt mention warranty..
this other place I went to quoted me remanufactured: $3200, 3year warranty, 7-10 days, will let me keep my sri, exhaust, and as long as i dont go extreme with mods will let the warranty stay..

$800 difference, is it really worth it?

Re-manufactured is a euphamism (made to sound more important) term for rebuilt. Are those quotes including installation? $3200 sounds a little steep for a 420A. I would get more quotes, but I would definately go with a shop or rebuilder that offers a warranty . . . :talon:

x2 on the warranty. the cheaper one probably doesn't come with a warranty, perhaps that's why he never mentioned it. that does seem a tad pricey though...but then again, they are installing it for you, right? and that sounds like unlimited mileage warranty...they're easy to work with, i've made a claim on one before, but in a chevy truck.

if you could install it yourself, you could check with advance auto...they have a performance series motor they offer with a three-year warranty, and ebay has some longblocks for around 1800 last time i checked, but i'm not sure on the warranty there.

yea 3200 total labor and everything, he said if i wanted to get any extras on my car i just have to pay for the part they'll do the labor for free, and they seem like good people, even would drive me home since i dont have a ride home(20 miles away) when i drop my car off, so my distance is limited but still yea i thought $3200 was alot, but pretty much its the only place around here, i went to acouple places, they all quoted $2250-2500 remanufactured but they're not gonna put the engine in, im gonna have to find a place to drop it in and all that, thats gonna be a hassel, I called like 20 shops, only 2 replied yes they do rebuilts one was 2400, the other said 2600, neither mention warranty, both said they are backed up with work, and to call them in acouple weeks.
