So I go to advanced auto because its the only place in town that carries NGK plugs. I asked for NGK BPR6ES. They don't carry them or even offer them from their list. WTF

All the carry that I recognize from Mr boxx's 101 asked questions on the forums is the BPR6EKN. And it says this is not the best option. Has anyone used these and found them the same as the 6ES plugs?

They also offer a irdium and platinum plug from NGK but I read that stuff is junk.

What do you do to get your plugs?

Advance does to carry them. I work there.

Advance part number for a BPR6ES is 7131
" BPR7ES is 2023

Both are regularly stocked plugs at are store and are ###### for that one as well. Doesn't list them when you look them up for a vehicle (just like a VPower plug) but they can cross the NGK number. Tell the person that helped you that they misinformed you and lost a sale LOL.

yeah the 6ES were NOT on the list but I gave him the 7131 number and he had 14 in stock. :rocks: Thank you squeak. He then told me they are for 92-94 4g63 only. I just told him I am going to give them a try.

No offense to any parts guys on this forum, but man I hate it when the parts pushers try to play Technician. Gets me every time....

When I went to pick them up the guy asked if it was the SOHC or DOHC TSi ROFL. He's a nice guy I am in there all the time getting random stuff like wax and tire caps, somebody likes to steal them, so I don't bust his stuff.

There were champion plugs in the car! ew, feels like it runs a bit smoother and when I plulled the plugs they had a tan or gold like color on the bottom of the porciline and no colorsion. So at least I didn't find some black ones full of oil.

Ill have to remeber that part number. Thanks again guys. :rocks:

I work at a Checker Auto Parts, which is where I took the pictures I used in my FAQ. I have more pics of some other oddball spark plugs; I just haven't gotten around to editing yet. Most parts store chains (Autozone, Advance, etc.) have some sort of "rewards" program for selling "premium" products. A big "premium" product is platinum or iridium spark plugs. So, if the company says that, this month, for every set (4 or more) of Bosch platinum or double platinum spark plugs you sell, you get get $0.50 added to your paycheck, it adds up. So you'll get guys who really know how to sell coming up with all this malarky about giving all cars better mileage and more power and longer life and all sorts of magic powers. But go ahead and try putting a double platinum plug in a turbo DSM. I know for a fact my car got about 10mpg and felt like a dog with them. That was a long time ago, before I knew better. To date, I have never pushed a platinum plug on anybody. If someone asks for them, sure, I'll sell them. Same for The Tornado. I will NEVER say that a Tornado will give people better gas mileage or more power, regardless of the $2 I'll make off the sale of one.

Anyway, back on topic: Yeah, you usually have to give parts stores the part number instead of the part name, so 7131 instead of the BPR6ES number. Some stores can look it up both ways, some can't. If you live in Illinois and have a Murray's Discount Auto parts nearby, they should also carry NGK.
