I'm doing a head swap on my 2g gsx to the 1g head and I was just curious if I have to use the 1st gen cams or if the 2nd gen cams would work?

Either cams will work fine.

If you try to use 1g cams, you will need to drill and tap the end of the intake cam to accomodate the 97-99 cas.

Thanks i knew that the 1g cams would have to be drilled for the 2g cas or use the 1g one and wire it in. But i was just trying to figure out if that was what my strange noise could of been from. Thanks though :D

That's what I did too. I thought you had to if you were using a 1g head, reguardless of what cams you were using.

ya i wasnt sure if u had to or not..but since im told its ok...then i have another question what could cause my car to sound somewhat like a chainsaw when it's reved up? I replaced the hydraulic tensioner the timing belt is tight all the pulleys spin free and dont catch at all. And it does it even with all the accessory belts off....
