96 NA auto wants to stay in 2nd gear

I have a small issue, and was wondering if anybody has the answer, ive had the ecu checked, nothing, if i drive the car like an old lady it will do fine, but if i just try to drive normal{no im not dogging out a NA} it will go into its safe mode and stay in 2nd gear untill i stop, turn off the car, turn it back on, and then its back to working WTF, any imput is appreciated!
