Hi All,

Today i installed a black top cas in my car. In order for me to get 5* Base Timing i had to move the CAS to a position that is very close to being advance all the way. Not all the way advance but very close.

For the last few movements the cas is very sensitive to movement. If i moved a little it would jump to 10*, 15* and etc...

For the black top cas does it matter if the line up is 180 degrees out and will it make the car run poor ?

Thank You All,
V

Er, are you running a six-bolt swap, or is this for a second-car 1G? In either case, yes, being 180 out will make a difference. Either line it up at TDC and match up the notch with the dimple, or try flipping the peg around and setting the timing. For a 1G, make sure that you've grounded the timing adjust check connector before messing with the CAS, or the ECU will try to mess with the timing. For a six-bolt swapped 2G... use the search function. I'm pretty sure there are at least a few threads out there about how to deal with having adjustable timing on a car that internally assumes it doesn't.

It's a 2g with a complete 6 bolt swap. I have no problem with setting the timing, on the black top cas. Do i need to rotate the engine to get it to be at TDC and install the CAS again with the mark 180 in.

Actually the car been running pretty good without any problems with the current install of the cas. It was able to build boost to 15 lb without problems etc..
