I wanted to know if anybody can give me advice for my 95 eclipse gst.I would want to know the first mods i should start out with.At what mileage does crankwalk effect the engine mine has around 135000 with a rebuild transmission. Can i install a intercooler for the stock turbo.

Here's a few upgrade paths that you should take a look at:

RRE's Upgrade Path
Stage 0 - Free Mods
Stage 1 - 300HP

I wouldn't really worry about crankwalk. It's a rare occurrence. But it can happen at pretty much any mileage.

Yes, you can install an intercooler (I'm assuming you're talking about a front mount) for the stock turbo. You already have an intercooler - it's on the passenger's side. Just follow the pipe from the throttle body to find it. You don't have to have a bigger or certain turbo to install a front mount.

Please use the Search button next time though as all these questions have been answered a million times before. (And in case you haven't found it yet, the Search button is on the bar at the top in yellow.)

Hey, crankwalk does not have a specific mileage that its gonna happen at. It really depends on the motor....ive heard cases where it has happened with low mileage cars, then cars that have 100k+ on them and then others get lucky and it never happens to them.
As far as mods go...yes you could put an intercooler on but a large intercooler is not always the answer. I would start off with performing general maintence first i.e. timing belt, water pump, new belts etc. That is if they havent been replaced already, then i'd look into a bov. The 2g bovs are crap, if you are on a budget you can get a 1g bov pretty cheap and they work well. Then look at getting sum supporting mods if you would like you can e-mail me and we could talk about what you are trying to do with the car. Hoped this helped.

It all depends what condition your car is in. I wouldn't worry about crankshaft or any internals now and switching from a side mount to a front mount intercooler would hardly give gain on a stock turbo.

As for rebuilding your transmission, if it doesn't have any problems now don't worry about it.

Go for minor mods like intake, boost controller, exhaust, bov, etc... to get you started.

^^^ Great advice!!^^^ Remember to recirculate that blow-off valve, which ever one you choose to go with. My first mods were,AutoMeter Boost/vac gauge, K&n FIPK, 3" catback, Perrin MBC, Hks Ssqv BOV (recirculated after I was schooled by the dsm gods). I ran 12 psi to start with which isn't much but, there were decent gains in midrange and top end ( a definate seat of the pants difference). Hope this helps. Have fun with your car and welcome to our community.
