Ok, so i just bought some nitrous componants from a local Srt guy tonight. I got a 5 pound bottle, two edelbrock solenoids (one fuel, one nitrous), and the feed line from the bottle. Theres two electrical lines attached to the top of each solenoid, and a single braided steel line with the jet fitting coming off the nitrous solenoid, and thats all i have. Now it cost next to nothing, so i know i got a decent deal, my question is what else would i need to get it running?

oh and just Fyi, its not going on my car any time soon, it was just a really good deal

You need a master arming switch, a relay to trigger the solenoids, and a way to trigger the relay. You can use a WOT switch on the throttle body, a handheld toggle or push button switch, or locate the WOT microswitch under the gas pedal.

Thats about it.

you will also need a fuel tap to draw fuel to the fuel solenoid with all the proper fittings to make an air leak free system oh and of course you also need to have the bottle filled :) Make sure you weigh it before you fill and after; this way you have the correct lbs of N20.

oh right sorry thought you had given up on it.. when will you be installing it? make sure you keep the selenoids in a dry place away from humidity also the hoses you want to make sure they are not exposed too much to the elements

at the moment everything is sitting in my room, its kinda hard to keep anything away from any and all humidity in Nc at this time of the year. Atm its probably going on my car in some form in about 2 months or so, so i shouldent have trouble getting the pieces parts

It dosent rain too much, but the humidity index is incredible, its around 60 to 80% most of the time during the summer

i too need some advice. is the stock fuel system of a 4g64 aduquate enough to handle a 50 shot?
secondly, is a bottle warmer mandatory? purge kit mandatory? thanks

What are you doing, drag strip or street?

A bottle warmer is not mandatory, but nice to have. Purge kit not mandatory either, but nice to have.

If you are using it on street, invest in a elect. bottle opener. This way if you wanna juice it for a red light or whatever, you can flick it on with a flip of a switch.

Nitrous is not flammable, but don't wanna waste it either. This way the bottle is always off until your ready to use it, and who has time to stop and turn the bottle on.

As far as the 4g64 , dunno I have the 420a. My fuel system was ok for 50 shot, but I'm using a 35 shot just because i have not built my motor bottom to handle Alot more than that, and i don't wanna push it.

The bottle warmer and the purge are cool things to have, but you can have good operating system with out them.

If its strictly track, then get a bottle warmer.

it will be strictly for the street. The kit I'm getting is for use when I'm at WOT. does this negate the activation switch? would it help if I posted the link to it so I can be guided on what I need? I'm real green when it comes to nitrous because i've always been against it. I don't want to seem like I want to be walked through it, so is there a link I could read up on nitrous use and applications? Thanks

edit: I read up and understand the activation switch and wot switch. a better question to ask is: with the electronic bottle opener, can one switch it off thereby closing the bottle and not running nitrous? for example, i flip the switch and floor it...when does the nitrous stop injecting? after i let off the gas? or flipping the switch back off?

thats a fogger system right? and it seems like an easy enough installation. but here's my question: when does the nitrous stop flowing into the cylinders?

One switch to Active system.(turn it on) Second switch to bottle opener. Now system is ready to spray nitrous, when two things have happen:

1) WOT
2) RPM Activation switch/relay.

I use this relay off my shift light. At WOT i spray until my shift light turns on, which is where i have it set at, and activates the relay. This way the spray is not going when you press clutch in. Don't ever press clutch in while spraying or go to neutral, or boooommm, the motor.

Example RPMS:

6000 RPMS red Line

So if you red line at 6000 rpms, then set your shift light at 5000 rpms. The better you get with it, the less you can take away from that. Say once your good and use to how system works, move to 5000 to 5500.

The nitrous will stop spraying at 5000 rpms, and this leaving you another 1000 rpms to keep pushing motor. Then once you shift, the rpms drops back to 4000 rpms say, then the spray comes on again, at WOT.

Understand the idea?

I have a after market 5" Tach/with shift light i use.

Also get a fuel pressure safety switch, this will save your engine also, if your kit don't come with one.

very insightful LA, appreciate it alot. my last question to you: do you like the spray? have you gone through more than a few bottles and still like it? i read so many stories where people will go through a couple bottles and think nitrous is ### and dump the system. i don't understand that part; why get it in the first place then.

NP bro, YW. Yes i still like the spray. I have been using it for about 5 years on a track car, and about a year on the street.

It's fun, but turbo + Nitrous is even better. I am currently gathering all my component's and parts to add my turbo. Will be fun to see the turbo+nitrous set up.

35 shot isn't all that big, but it's fun to play with. I have another 7 bolt that I'm gonna build stronger and swap it out, then i will probably go with a 50 or higher shot. That should be fun also.

I have a purge kit, and it's also kinda fun to drive down the strip and at a red light purge it when someone next to me is racing there motor.

Alot of people don't keep it because of the hype it didn't deliver. People think nitrous is like in the movies, and you press the button and can out preform the other car.

Truth is, nitrous alone is not enough to make you Alot faster. So this is why they loose interest in it. As long as you understand what and how it works, that it's not gonna make you run 10's , without Alot of other stuff(roughly 10,000$) then you will not loose interest in it. The movies make it more popular and added Alot of hype to it.

If you are able to understand exactly what it's gonna do and not do, then you will be fine.

I've been using Nitrous Express wet kit on my 1g GSX for about 7 years and have no mechanical issue. I am running 20 pounds of boost on big 16G turbo and 75 shot of nitrous. Can you imagine the 20 pounds of boost and the instant 75 HP shot feels like? As for me I only use nitrous on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear only and NEVER 1st or 5th. And difinitely not on the highway travelling at the high speed or if the car is already at higher RPM. Not sure if how anyone else would use it.

I am not suggesting you do the same. My engine is modded to take the punishment. So as always use it at your own risk. One mistake while nitrous activated will cost you an engine. Keep that in mind.
Nitrous is difinitely not for any amature.

Keep in mind it take discipline to use Nitrous as LA stated above. Don't believe the movies. Do more research.

i consider myself to be real level-headed and possess enough discipline to use nitrous correctly. thanks for the reassurance i guess you could say. i just need a 50 shot to get me by until i go turbo.
